here we have player "rain" shooting at the wall then lo and behold somoene magically is there when he goes around the wall.

how blatant can you get? its funny what people do when they think they arent being watched. Now lets hear all the excuses from admin to try and debunk this. Now yes you can hear nade damage but why shoot at the wall? specifically where the player would be

A shot at the wall in a 12 second 3rd person YouTube video is blatant? I'm not even sure if that's even mildly suspicious or not let alone "blatant"(I'd lean on no). To determine that I'd need to actually watch him play specifically in a demo.

Even if he was wallhacking why shoot at a wall. He rounds a corner and as he does so he starts shooting in case someone is there. Since he's likely NOT wallhacking, he can't tell that there is no one there to shoot at.  He stops shooting once he has a view of the space. Rounds another corner. This time someone IS there, but he hasn't started shooting yet, because he's probably not wallhacking and can't tell he's about to meet an opponent :/

My interpretation of this being proof is that you think the player messed up and shot at someone they saw, but they were behind a wall and rain realized it after he had already fired.

I can see how this might be suspicious, but there's other ways to explain what happened there. We don't know for sure if the person behind the wall was in the exact spot that rain was firing at.

More demos/videos of this person playing would help a lot. It's hard to make a judgement based on a single 12 second clip. If I see him on I can try to tail him too.

Yes a demo is considerably more useful.  This is much better than a 'wallhacks' said on server, but a 12 second clip isn't remotely conclusive of anything.

If there's a demo of someone shooting when rounding corners, only when someone is there, and not shooting when it's clear.. sure that could be suspicious.  Someone rounding a corner shooting once and then not shooting when rounding the next corner when the opponent is actually there is far from suspicious on its own tho.

At the most, that only means he's either got a bind he hits to say that whenever someone checks the !versions, or he's custom coded his client to echo that in response to the version check. The version check is not a hack check, just a tool to see what client and version someone is running.

If you're seriously suspecting someone of walling that you're recording in spectator mode, then it's best to post the demo itself, and then perhaps also post a video... but the demo is the most important thing. People can watch demos with offline wallhacks loaded to get an even better view of what it would look like if the person in question really were using wallhacks. That's precisely how Derv caught Krenz back in the day. The demo he posted of krenz playing looked like nothing was wrong, but with a wallhack loaded, it became UNDENIABLE that he was following player entities through walls with no sound cues.

But a 12 second youtube video isn't going to prove anything unless it's VERY OBVIOUS, and it's not. One could say he heard the pain sounds of the other player coming from that direction and he anticipated someone coming through that end of the room. Yeah, if you're actively watching someone with the predetermination to EXPECT to see evidence of cheating (bias), then you usually will.

As i said in the hackusation post, Most of the time its just muck around BS for shits and giggles and people get so angry over nothing at all, However i do believe there are people on the DM server highly questionable in thier gameplay

For what it's worth, q2pro r1504~924ff39 Dec  3 2014 Win32 x86 is the version distributed in the Quake 2 Starter at http://q2s.tastyspleen.net/. It's up to the user to customize it for use.

Speaking of the starter package, can someone update it to the latest q2pro release? Or at least put up a new starter kit that includes the current q2pro? I have to send people to the starter page, then to the https://skuller.net/q2pro/nightly/ page to get a better version.

If deploying a new q2pro version, I would suggest setting gl_waterwarp to 0, (from its default of 1) its the only change I have made to my client from the q2starter version over the years. Otherwise you get some weird warping under water, I don't recall changing any other settings to make it feel "vanilla".

I can't find gl_waterwarp or gl_water* anywhere in the q2pro client in the starter pack. I also don't find it in the latest q2pro either. I looked into the source and I don't find any trace of gl_water... or cl_water...

Was it in an earlier version or a different client perhaps?

Aha. Found it. It's in the latest build but it's not in the client 1504 that was included in the starter package.

What brightskins are in that video? are they Elysium brightskins?

They look too bright to be Elysium brightskins, are the brightness settings quite high in that video?

If they're not Elysium brightskins do you know where i can get them?
