CTF Players - question for you

Hi everyone.
In pivotal point of classic vanilla CTF map should / shouldn't be, and why:

Power Screen

Does this one do anything useful ?

I'm finishing a new CTF map for you, and i want to put there something to fight for.
Does BFG make sense on CTF maps? (traditional vanilla ones ?)

There are several different versions of "CTF server".
Traditional CTF
Insta-gib rail
LMCTF
TMG CTF, or FFA usually configured for rails

There generally isn't a need in CTF to add something to fight for, they're fighting for flags and for flag captures.

With default configurations on TMG for example, there are no items spawned at all. Everyone gets a railgun and that's all, no power ups or ammo is spawned at all.

LMCTF has runes and they spawn randomly throughout the maps during gameplay and they make armor and quad obsolete.

Typical CTF maps (as far as I remember) will have a quad as central object which seems to be the most coveted power up but the mods are free to replace or eliminate power ups. LOX, for example, replaces quad with jetpack because the weapons there are amped up and so numerous that quad is just super-overkill.

I was on some CTF server the other day watching some folks 1v1. Both of them were pretty good, way better than your average Tastyspleen DM visitor. After watching what was largely a stalemate for almost 8 minutes straight, finally one was able to get a couple of captures on the board. Looks frustrating and tedious as hell to play that kinda shit 1v1 like that. Gotta grab the flag while the other guy grabs yours, then run around playing a flip flopping chess match of chasing and fleeing. Trying to kill the other guy while NOT DYING yourself, and then ruuuuuuuuuuuunning like a wild assed indian with his hair on fire going to take a shit in order to hit your flag base before HE does again. Ugh, not for me, I don't have that kinda patience in this game.

That said though... if I imagine that I'm one of those two guys playing a 1v1 CTF match, the last thing I'm gonna want on the map is an invulnerability powerup. That removes the fairness involved in that mental chess match part of the game. There's no longer a way to damage the other person and punish them for pursuing, all you can do is run like hell for the next 25 seconds and hope you get lucky enough to survive.

People tend to hurt themselves for unclear reasons :)
Anyway, how would affect the gameplay in this scenario,  to have a BFG in a central point of a map?
