Does anyone know a mod that allows me to move the Q2 weapons to the center, like in Q1?

Uh... "sort of".
You edit your config to have:
set hand "2"
or simply type in console:
hand 2
...just to test it out. It'll make all outbound fire originate from the bottom center of your view, but your gun muzzles disappear from view when you do that. I personally use "hand 2" (center) precisely because it DOES remove the gun muzzle from the view and allows you to see everything in front of you better. At first, you'll probably hate it because you won't be able to SEE what gun you're currently holding, but given time, you'll learn to be able to look at the weapon icon in the HUD to see what weapon you're currently using. And again, I don't use the stock Quake2 HUD icons either, I always use my own custom made ones that make it a little easier to instantly identify what weapon I'm holding or what item I just picked up or have cued up in my scroll-through inventory (usually only effects power armor in multiplayer dm, whereas you can store things like quad damage and invul in coop).
I don't know if there's any clients that support showing the gun muzzles in the center position. For really accurate depiction, it might require someone to make a new animated hand+weapon model. I'm not sure if any other clients would simply take the right hand models and move them to the center. That would also require the model to be tilted to make the barrel aim straight and would probably make the model look funny or broken. I'm not too sure what other clients do though as I've always used the old antique r1Q2 client which doesn't have some of the fancy options that other ones have.
