I can kill him some, and have beat him on maps a couple of times, but he still gets a good kill ratio against me.

all told, you should have done what everyone else does when Optica shows up to vanilla to run up a kill streak vs completely terrible newbie players: put goto in your console and find another server.

That way he can just run around the map by himself. Feet: Vote with them.

It's one of few votes you can make that won't be nullified by a combination of gerrymandering and a bunch of dumb white hicks who will be losing their handouts and medical coverage in the near future thru nobody's fault but their own.

It would be impossible for him to hide his play style. He plays FFA like it's a fucking duel match. His general MO is to horde all resources, shoot from cover, fight mostly HPBs on Vanilla, and run away as soon as his stack is even barely dented.

He's by far the most boring regular to play against. Notice he sticks to Vanilla probably 99% of the time. Too bad for him he gets destroyed in duel since that's obviously the only way he knows how to play, which is boring and lame as fuck in FFA.

. I used to enjoy optica sitting there by himself on an ffa server. I'd join up(aliased sometimes to discourage my opponent going to spectator from the start despite him grabbing armor shards for the past 10 minutes), then we'd play. He'd disconnect eventually or perhaps go spec, but I think one time he lasted 16-0 before he left. I was impressed. Usually he bailed way before then.

Yeah, he definitely does that. He's not the usual who-gives-a-shit-it's-FFA kinda player like me who just goes flying balls first at everyone even if I only have 40 health and 60 bullets for a chaingun. He plays it like it's a duel match, controlling armors and megahealth, pot shotting and fleeing when the fire gets too hot, running up a ridiculous KDR against the vanilla players who never bother looking for armor or megahealth and are thus always at a disadvantage regardless of their aim. I don't worry about it too much though. Yeah, it gets on my nerves if it's just 3 or 4 people total. 1 on 1, it's easier to switch to the duel style and try to deny him the armor and mega. Us 2 plus a 3rd and 4th, then I inevitably make the choice to start chasing down fights rather than control his favorite items, and that almost never works out to more kills. But if the server starts getting busier with 8 or 10 or more folks, it becomes much easier to fight off everyone else AND deny him exclusive rights to all armor and mega since he's more frequently occupied with fights.

Either way, not a big deal. He might play like a dick sometimes, but he himself usually isn't a dick. He shuts the fuck up and plays the game and doesn't troll you to death with smiley binds after every kill like some people do (which I can certainly appreciate in any player). My advice to the haters on Vanilla: Don't wanna get killed? Play better. Play different. Or cry about it into your pillow. Does it really matter who wins? It's an old as dirt visually ugly game with interesting physics and gameplay mechanics that hardly anyone plays anymore. Like... Fuck it. If you're the best Quake2 player in the world, that's kinda like being the best yo-yo flinger or accordian player in the world. People just go, "Uh..... So?" In fact, they probably liked you better before they found out you're the greatest at something that just generally annoys people.
