I just tried out discord for the first time.. you can use it in web browser.. or download it on your phone..

it should be replacing vent/teamspeak/mumble voice servers.. also replacing IRC chats

I havent used IRC much in modern times.. i did download a few IRC apps on my phone but didnt care much for them.

ACME IRC is now running seamless with ACME Discord server pretty cool.. and since i like the discord app i can see myself chatting more with it.

Discord isn't a perfect app. It has two glaring problems so far that I noticed: 1) it has less privacy than IRC, 2) you don't really own a channel the same way you do in IRC.

Also, I never used discord enough but IDK how good the chat would be when you have 10 people posting messages at the same time. It might be too chaotic.

this is the web browser version. i also downloaded the phone app version which is pretty cool too. no more typing in IRC address and port number and other confusing things we had to do on IRC vent etc.. I used a few different IRC apps on my phone but this discord app imo is better than all the ones i tried. we have 10 people on ACME discord/IRC chat more or less and it doesnt seem any different than IRC did... seems a bit cleaner tbh and now you can post dank memes and other images in chat which brings IRC out of the stoneage.
im sure there are some bugs and its not perfect but give it time and things will improve
