Hi Barton, thanks for this      These guys are quite humble - if it was me (and say bean$ was a really, really good player in the 90s) I'd be like 'Yeah, I was among the very best - probably THE best, but was not that bothered.  I was a Quake II GOD, a No. 1 Railer - hooooyeah!!!!  Still am a QII GOD today even without playing for 15 years, take you all on, especially campers (especially Campers!     ) yeah'.

One thing tho.  Why is Thoorin wearing what looks like quite a thick coat indoors?  It's even got that fake fur stuff around the hood.  Can't be that cold in his room, can it?   

Oh, and he drinks one of those awful energy drinks, about half way through - full of sugar     Energy drinks (proper supplements with electrolytes) are all well and good, I use them for my 80mile cycle rides on a Saturday (probably only do 50miles max. now, as winter crawls in) but if you're playing a computer game and drinking it, by the time you get to Makaveli's age you're gonna be a right old porker!    

No offense to overweight people here (this term OK?) - I was once 15.5 stone, about 5 or 6 years ago.  Took 3 years to get rid of it, and I now hover around the 12 stone mark - hard to keep it at this leverl, as I get older     I like beer and steaks, which are not a good combination for keep weight down ...

Many years ago a ran into Makaveli or someone using his name on a CA FFA server.  I really don't know if it was him, but whoever it was definitely talked a lot of trash and challenged me to play him 1 v 1.  This guy was considerably better than me, but I did get some frags (in FFA) and he went off trash talking me, telling me that I would never get a frag against him if I played a man's mod (1 v 1) and I was a FFA no skilled noob, etc.  It was years ago, so my comments may not be exact, but it went something close to that.  I had heard the Makaveli name and did know that he was suppose to be a really good player, but being that I was not a TDM player, I did not know just how great this guy was.

I'm not sure. My guess is either his heater is broken/doesn't work well, or he doesn't have heating at his flat.

As for the energy drink, if you look out through makaveli's window during that interview, the sun was out. That means Thorin had to do the interview perhaps later at night since there is a 8 hour time difference between makaveli and himself.

Energy drinks aren't the greatest source for caffeine, but you don't have much alternatives if you don't want to drink something hot like coffee.

He used to show up in CA ra2 pubs "many years ago" as well, so I wouldn't be surprised.

The "Makaveli" player Sgt. Dick or bluemeanies refers to is NOT the same player D16-Makaveli(Victor Cuadra). Maka never played on a TS server. He was active in Q2 through 2000, possibly 2001. Semi-retired, he was a tech at Sega's HEAT.tv and did some duels. Lately he's dabbled in QL a bit.

I can't remember the exact server, but it was not a TS server.  I saw this guy before I knew TS existed, TS may not have been around back then.
It was probably 98-99 time frame, not completely sure. 

It is hard to remember everything from that many years ago, but I remember this guy because 1) He was really good 2) he became irate just because I got some frags on him in a FFA game 3) since I was not a 1 v 1 player, I had heard the name but did not know how good this guy was until finding out more about him later.

Like I said in my first post, it may have been him or it could have been someone using his alias.

@SgtDick: maybe it was a HEAT server or Mplay, or in Cali on JadeGarden's servers. That's funny he went right to the "1on1 dude" so fast. va-kickr0 aka Camper2Shoes enjoyed doing that on FFAs too.
@bluemeanies: I joined heat.net mid '98, maybe a year later saw him come on a duel server during his tech shift at Heat. Figured if he's famous for throwing a chair, he could probably be a dick (no offense Sgt.!) on a server too.

I probably wasn't completely innocent, if I knew I had someone tweaked I usually had a little fun with some of my binds.
Playing as Sgt. Dick I had a bind "You just got Dicked" that I would use sometimes after a frag
