I still think Carolina looked better relative to Arizona. Maybe y'all feel that way too but just not by much. Seattle allowed 10 rushing TD's this season which means that what, 30% of them occurred in the first half of that game?? Maybe 20, but still. Seattle came out of the locker room and made adjustments on both sides of the ball, and Carolina got caught slipping.

Opposed to the GB Arizona game which was just random glimmers of hope among chaos and inconsistency.

Home at Carolina, they got it.

I... WAS... thinking Carolina was gonna take it all. But I ain't too sure anymore. I've said it before, that every few years theres one team that just has a magical season, where all the stars align perfectly just for them, where they always find a way to win. Pretty sure I said it back in 08 or 09 when Brees and the Saints finally snagged New Orleans first Superbowl win. Seems like Arizona might have that certain magic to them this season. I agree that they didn't look entirely outstanding against Green Bay, but then again, Carolina managed to pummel Seattle with 4TD's and 1FG to run upthe score 31 to nothing by halftime... and then couldn't do anything more in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Carolina, just going by the numbers on paper, SHOULD win the NFC conferece championship. But it won't shock me at all if they don't.

Well put and kinda summarizes my thinking.  Carolina's defense alone could win any game for them, and Cam.... well I'm no fan, but appreciate his skills.  The best team in the NFL does not always win the Super Bowl.  This feels like one of those years.

Well, as a Carolina fan I guess I'm in the minority here!! Hard for me to change my mind just because Carolina had an off half. The beat down Seattle gave Arizona before the playoffs is on my mind too. I guess we'll see

I am 60/40 that Carolina will win.  I'm just not near as sure as I am about NE beating Denver 80/20.

In my mind, Carolina would probably be the favorite to win (dunno what the actual Vegas odds are), and for all the reasons you mentioned, Haunted. New England too. They both have shown the most consistency on offense. But these have been some of the craziest and most fun to watch playoffs I've seen since... shit, since EVER! If I were an independent bookie who relied on the Vegas odds to keep me safely in the green to where I could cover any and all payouts, I'd be really nervous about taking bigger bets from folks and would probably rather just "lose" my phone until Monday. Because ANYTHING could happen this weekend.

I hear ya. I'm hoping for a rematch from 2003 because it's the season and game that got me watching Carolina to begin with, although more so starting in college in 05. The NE Carolina game was epic.

I agree. I don't think Cam Newton is taunting the other team but rather celebrating the teams successes with the crowd (the paying customer, let's not forget). Getting the home crowd pumped up is his job. Including the city of Charlotte, the great state of North Carolina (and South Carolina, they are the "Carolina Panthers") and the panthers fan base in the emotions the players are feeling in their ride through the playoffs is what all teams should do. What's different than what Cam is doing and the Lambeau leap? People always talk about players being selfish... This is actually unselfish. Facing scrutiny for sharing the joys of playing football with the crowd that supports you is what athletes should do. Perhaps we should all celebrate our successes with out support networks a bit more often. Taunting, bragging and boasting is different than celebrating... I see the panthers celebrating. Keep pounding!

I commend Cam for giving TD balls to young fans at the game.  Cam has been a example and most of the Panthers now give the footballs to the young fans also.  I think Cam gets it, just look at some of the kids reactions when they have one of their heroes give them a game ball.

Yeah yeah yeah. All I'm gonna say is there's a big difference between Cam Newton, the person, and Larry Fitzgerald, the person. Fitz is a GENUINELY good dude. I'm more convinced that Cam Newton giving away game balls to kids is just a good-guy badge shining routine. If Justin Bieber started visiting kids cancer hospitals once a month to hand out autographed headshots and take pictures, nobody in their right mind is gonna be convinced that Justin Bieber isn't still a shithead.

Wait, you're telling me you didn't hear about Cam'sgiving?!?!? Or when Santa cam brought in and gave the children all their presents?!??

He does a lot of cool things, all the while sporting his "cocky" flare, to the communities in nc. Mainly the youth around Charlotte and Raleigh.

Larry Fitzgerald is a class act and always has been.  Larry goes about his business and never really does the "Hey Look at Me" kinda stuff.
Cam does want to be in the spot light.  I separate those actions from the things they do for the fans and the community.
Someone can be a showboat, asshole, or whatever in one aspect of their life and still be a person who also does good deeds for others.
I gave Cam props for what he does for the fans, because there are many others who do their TD dance and all the "look at me stuff" and then spin the ball or take it with them to keep.  Cam may be an attention hog, but he does do things for the fans, which is more than most of the players do.

But seriously, I'm switching sides last minute. Cam Newton aside, I'm pretty sure the Cardinals won a Superbowl when Kurt Warner was QB. So fuck 'em. I wanna see someone new get their first one. When the playoffs started, I was really hoping the Bengals could snare it. All the years they had Boomer Esiason and still never got one. But I don't think Dan Marino ever got one either, and he's widely considered one of the best NFL QB's of all time.

Alright let's take a few deep breaths and reevaluate what's going on here. I don't think Fitzgerald will get gonorrhea when cam penetrates the Arizona defense. After all, he plays offense anyway. So I guess I got a little carried away.

The panthers have never won a super bowl until this year, which is why I don't mind rooting for them nor do I mind them already having it in the bag. And, the bengals have serious talent. It's typical to see them start like they did yet somehow not make the playoffs.
