Not sure if this is on all the servers, but today dm was lagging pretty bad.  Seems to be occasional, will clear up for a few mins then another round of lag storms.  It's not red-line stuff, and really not green mountains either - it's more of a strange overall sluggishness that netgraph isn't picking up, and is on and off every few mins.  The weirdest part is pings will stay the same (my 17) but it will feel like 140+ europing when it's happening.

Anyone else notice this?  Can anything be done, or is it not an issue with tasty?

was playing just before and it seems like playing in cement, but thats not really unusual for me, however my anticheat has not been loading for a week now. Sometimes it will sometimes it wont

Hmm. I've also been noticing an uptick in non-netgraph lag events.

The SMART status of the HDD looks good. Nothing indicating degraded performance. (Though, it's possible for an HDD to be going bad without SMART data providing a clue.)

We'll definitely keep an eye on it. And please report any increase in lag issues that don't show up on netgraph.

Hm, this is interesting. How can latency dodge the netgraph? To calculate the netgraph, the client saves a timestamp (local system time) on outgoing commands. When those commands are acknowledged, as indicated on the incoming server frame, the delta in system time is calculated and that's your "ping". Since the server can't influence the client's system time, it's a bit puzzling as to how you could perceive latency that wouldn't show up on the netgraph.

You should try turning on debug, show_net, and all of the other debugging tools the next time this happens.

I had an old computer that had a video card dying, and now that I think about it, that's exactly how it felt in the server the other day.  Almost like GPU lag, except on the server side.  It was happening to everyone in the server at the same times, and would clear up at the same times too.  Gonna play some tonight and see if it happens again.

And jdolan, how do I run debug or show_net for q2?  I'm not a coder.  :)   I run r1q2 btw.

DM server is fucked. 2 point blank rockets from spawn and lava damage and player survived? WTF?" Also someone has fucked with the spawn points, every single time no matter how big the map you spawn right in front of the person who killed you last
