Don't have the map and can't find it anywhere in the downloads. (trncmp.bsp) Maybe post a copy of the necessary map files.

Without watching it, I'm pretty sure nobody was using an actual speedhack. Ain't seen one of those used in long long time. Most people wouldn't use them because they're impossible to disguise. You can have a believable excuse for shooting people coming through doors when using a wallhack or spikes... "I heard his footsteps." You can even turn the FOV down on a bot to where it'll only lock onto someone within a small radius of your crosshair, making it harder to see the jerky aim movement when spectating them. But a speedhack? There's no way to cover the fact that you're zipping around a map faster than everyone else without jumping. You sure it's not just the player lag-teleporting?

Yes, I am certain this player is using a speed hack. Don't confuse this with the sonic feature that Wodx has. You would hear a sound when that is activated and would fly through the air. I have attached the map file. Thanks!

I noticed the player was using a grapple hook to move around faster. Maybe that was what you were seeing. Notice how the bursts in speed occur with the sounds of the grapple hook.

You've got to be kidding me. Dude. That's TOTALLY the grapple the hook. Hook. Not hack. It's part of the gameplay of that mod. Anyone can use it. Usually people bind something like:
mouse 3 "+hook" or mouse 3 "+hook2"
Pretty sure there's other unique binds for weapons and features in that mod that aren't in vanilla Q2, things like the "paint" command for using those airstrike markers, other weapon use binds in addition to the stock Q2 weapons, etc.

People do that shit with the hook all the time in capture the flag. They use the hook and fire it into the floor/wall at the end of a hallway to make themselves move faster than they ever could by running and strafe jumping alone.

100% sure this person isn't using a speedhack. I was under the impression you had played this mod a good bit before. This is seriously the first time you're noticing that people use hooks? Look at the demo closely again. At a couple points you can actually see the green laser for the grapple hook shooting out of him and towards a wall. The rest of the time, you can't see it so much. And the reason for that is because the WODX mod on that server is so ridiculously chocked full of overpowered weapons with huge explosion animations, and sometimes if there's a whole shitload of explosions going off all over the place too close together, it overloads the graphical capabilities of the game and the game won't draw every single event. That's why I don't play that shit. It's got too many weapons with too much power. There's not much "fight" to it. You hit someone only once with random spam and they die. It's retarded.

You are exactly right. He wasn't using one. I just had to look at it again 2 times. One using R1q2 and the other using regular q2 exe. When I used R1q2 it doesn't show the hook at all on my screen and occasionally the sound doesn't play. Also sometimes everything dissapears when I play. I could see and hear everything when I used the normal quake2.exe

I am sorry I wasted your time with this player guys. I need to ditch R1q2.

funny you say that. i was accused of hacking on this server twice in the past week, because apparently i "seemed invulnerable even though there didn't seem to be an invulnerability powerup on the map." know why? because it literally is still quake. you pick up all the armors and megahealth, defend the areas with the powerful weapons, and strafe/ramp jump to avoid getting hit. grappling hook is in threewave. is threewave not quake either? as for the weapon imbalances, if you get used to the new weapons they all have different situational uses (you're not gonna be bullcharging someone with the napalm grenade but if you have the street sweeper it would be a viable tactic.)

Personally i think this mod is fucking awesome for bringing together all aspects of the iD software universe but i can completely understand how purists would hate it. As for Lord Vader himself, he is most definitely not hacking and i've had no problem beating him in the past.

And I can understand why some people like it. They like all the countless weapons and powerups. For me, it's just too much. Too many weapons to keep up with, and too many of them are severely overpowered. It ends up not being much of a "fight" to get frags. If you get the drop on the other guy before he gets the drop on you, one shot or short burst with most weapons is enough to do someone in and they don't get much of a chance to fight back or challenge you for the frag. And then when someone competent comes along and joins the game, all the lower skilled players start crying "Hacks!" when the person with decent aim starts raping everyone with all the overpowered weapons the mod features.

WOD's an old ass mod, and I remember playing it a couple times back in 99 and 2000. And from what I remember, there were FAR less weapons in it than what Whale WOD-X features, and none of them dealt the same extreme amount of damage that the ones on Whale do. Seems to me all whale is is a hodge-podge mod of every weapon from every major Quake2 weapon mod where all the damage values have been upped by 50% or more. These mods were originally made with a degree of thoughtfulness given to the number of weapons, damage values, powerups, and item placement to make the game competitive and fair. I don't really see that at work or in practice in the WOD-X mod. I see a whole bunch of things just hurriedly crammed together with little thought given to preventing conditions where one player might exploit placement to gain a continuing advantage all map long.
