Its fucked up but no one plays there anymore. I don't get vanilla and DM players always playing the same old maps. We got MUTANT, god damn it! I miss the good old days - 12+ player matches and the excitement of the thousands of mostly unknown maps. I have 3684 mutant maps on my computer while people still play base02. It makes no fucking sense. It would be awesome if we replace vanilla with mutant and see how people react.

We actually had an awesome game last night. Me and optica started playing and after 10 invites and a couple of hours we had about 7-8 people.

Seems like most people don't welcome the random non-stock maps anymore, at least not enough to go to the server where they all are. If you put a bunch of the mutant favorites on DM or Vanilla and then stuck them in the rotation, people would probably play them and like them.

I did that. Most of the newest custom vanilla maps are there because of me (trdm04a, ven_dm2, paradm4...). We need to add some more though as well as get rid of a few imo.

i have this idea that most of the old timers that play on dm and vanilla, are running on old ass computers, so they refuse to download any new maps.

No offense but nothing shits me off more than wanting to play dm1-dm8 rotation and someone mymapping stupid maps. I like the old dm1-8. Just like vanilla players like the stock maps. If we wanted to play all these other custom maps we would go to mutant, but you dont see dmers leaving the server by the droves to go play there, so there really shouldnt be any mymap option on the DM server imo

If you feel 'shitted' by a maximum of one-in-five custom map on dm, ye might wish to get y'r OCD in check.

I've no sympathy for the likes of y' (apart from y'r sad apparent lack o' ability to appreciate classic custom maps, FOOK.)

I love the custom maps there. What I don't like about DM is +PU but I don't expect to see that going away.

Mutant config updated.

Server should now choose map sizes based on the current active player count. (I.e. the players who are actually fragging, not just spectators.)

Also, cleaned up the votemaps list, removing several 'joke' maps, maps with missing weapon spawns, and a few downright terrible ones. There are still almost 650 maps in the votemaps list, though!

Feedback is welcome, please let me know if you end up on a map that seems like it doesn't belong, or that causes the server to empty out of players, or whatnot.

It's amazing. You fucking people never even say "thank you" to this guy. He's basically the one-man technical support crew for all things North American Quake2. And he always helps you. And he doesn't get fucking paid for it. And he actually DOES shit when he's helping you, not just throwing bullshit at you to hopefully make you forget about your issue and leave him alone like other tech support crews fucking do on a daily basis.

Seriously Quadz, if you ever lose your job, go give the fuckheads at GTA's Rockstar a call and join their tech support crew. Because as far as I can tell, nobody in their entire tech support department actually has one single fucking clue what they're doing. And I imagine it's probably that way with most games these days. You got a problem with any game? Fucking google that shit and let some 13 year old kids Youtube video provide you with help and answers. Because chances are a 13 year old kid with a speech impediment on Youtube is gonna be EONS more helpful than the fucking retards they have providing tech support for whatever game it is.

PS. Nobody should ever buy a copy of a GTA5 and attempt to play that shit online. There's sooooooo much shit fucked up about this game. It was basically incomplete and untested the day they released it to the public. 2 years later, they're still fixing their fuckups and every time they do, they break something else. GTA5 is the definition of clusterfuckery.
