The Official 2014-2015 Football Season Thread

The 5 or 6 month long religious holiday for men across America known as "football season" begins tonight with pre-season NFL football.

The holidays always put me in a better mood. I'm always a little nicer to strangers and more charitable this wonderful time of the year. Unless they're a Dallas Cowboys fan. FUCK THOSE PEOPLE! THEY SHOULD DIE OF GONORRHEA AND ROT IN HELL!

Ugh. Not a fan of this whole idea to move the PAT back. Why? Why? Why we gotta keep on and keep on changing shit? The game is just fine. Shit's been okay and plenty competitive for the past 40 years without all these new changes they keep wanting to make. The biggest reason I object to it is because of what I'd term to be "continuity issues". Rules change, kickoff runbacks don't happen all the time anymore, PAT's are gonna be longer,... these things change the outcomes of games potentially. Certain teams might not have won championships in the past had these stupid rules been instated back then. Same kinda shit goes for extending the regular season schedule like they're trying to do. Adding more games to the schedule just gives modern day players more of an opportunity to break long-established career records by players of yesteryear who deserve to keep those records and be remembered as the amazing athletes they really were.

I think the majority of NFL fans want the game left the way it has been for 40 years.  I already hate what they have done to the kickoff

Yeah,  might as well do the kickoff like they do for the kids leagues - just set it down on the 30 yard line.

And all the Lebron stuff is gay,  I didn't give a shit when he left.  If I could spend some time in florida doing my job I sure as hell would too.  Never saw what the big deal with that was.   All I know is I could of had the Witness shirts for about  $0.25 a piece back then and sold em for full price now.  Maybe when he leaves at the end of this year I'll pick a bunch up.

They keep doing shit to change things and make it "more competitive" or "safer" whatever other excuse that'll equate to more money in their pockets... I'm just afraid that eventually it'll become what Nascar has become, just clusterfucked mess. I used to love not only watching Nascar on TV, but going to the races. Not really anymore. Can't tell you the last time I went to a race. Probably 2003 maybe.

(Going a little off-topic here, but I'll try to compare it to football) My biggest complaints about Nascar:
1. First and foremost, the institution of this stupid "Lucky Dog" rule where the first driver exactly one lap down from the leader gets 1 lap back whenever there's a caution. That is FUCKING RETARDED! Sure, it gives one more driver per caution a chance to get back into the thick of the lead pack and compete for the win, but the motherfucker didn't EARN it! Potentially one driver can go 500 miles during a race and come in 2nd or 3rd, while another one can only go 499 or 498 miles and come in 1st. What!?! Bullshit! Dale Earnhardt never got free laps to win all his many Winston Cup titles. This is comparable to moving the kickoff spot up 10 yards to prevent runbacks and effectively convince special teams to just take a starting spot at the 25 yard line or whatever. Why even fucking kick the ball at all? After a touchdown and PAT, just hand the ball to the other team and let the special teams players keep their asses anchored to the bench.

2. Instructing drivers at superspeedways to draft in 2 car pairs rather than an entire pack in single file lines. It removes so much strategy and timing and plain old SKILL from the grand spectacle. It ceases to WOW me. Sure, it can be a little dangerous for 45 cars to run door-to-door, bumper-to-bumper in 3 lines of 15 cars moving at 200+mph, but they're the best drivers in the world with the best safety equipment available, they can fuckin' handle it. This is like all the helmet-to-helmet contact rules in football. It makes players play with less than 100% effort sometimes and sucks some of the entertainment out of watching the sport.

There's probably several other comparisons I could make, but I think you get the point. I just hate seeing these corporate suit fuckoffs changing shit to make a commercially successful "product". It's all but ruined Nascar, and it's gonna ruin the NFL. And the worst part about that... is that college football tends to be following the lead of the NFL lately since they mirrored the kickoff spot like them. So not only will the NFL succeed in bastardizing pro-football, they're gonna bastardize college football too.

I honestly don't mind the league testing out moving the extra point back, wouldn't mind seeing them eliminate the xp all together..make them bitches go for two! Pop Warner Style. (or whatever you yankees call it..)

Why? They want people to watch, don't they? I saw a total of like 3 Falcons games last year. No one wants in depth coverage of how people train to succeed at sucking.
