I didn't see this post until you messaged me in IRC today.

Can you please call this something different than "Quake II Starter"?

We have taken great care to make the Quake II Starter at http://q2s.tastyspleen.net/ a 100% legal download.

The Quake II Starter at http://q2s.tastyspleen.net/ is an installer which works by downloading the original id Software Q2 Demo and Q2 3.20 point release files locally on behalf of the user. It then extracts these separate packages locally on the user's machine and combines them to create a version of Q2 which is playable online.

To take the result of all of that and instead distribute it online as a single .zip package is unfortunately probably of questionable legality without id Software's permission.

This is why the Quake II Starter at http://q2s.tastyspleen.net/ goes through those extra steps.

Regardless, if you are trying to create a new way for players to get into Quake2, I'd appreciate it if you called it something different than "Quake II Starter" to avoid confusion.
