Game Theories
« on: November 15, 2013, 06:58:56 PM »
What is a Joke?  Contradiction of expected logic especially by nonsense.

Game Theories are similar.  They may focus on a paradox or an illogical equilibrium.  The paradox is real, so a Game Theory will not be humorous.  The illogical nature is placed upon the participants.  Ironically, jokes are directed at you.

Network traffic

Simplified versions and variations can be generated.  For example:

Job offerings are posted in newspapers that are distributed to a wide area.  Applicants in need of work, apply for the job, although they live a distance away.

As jobs are cycled, the availability of *local* job is scarce due to the inflow of distant applicants.  Job seekers are forced to apply for jobs that require more travel time.

This game has no constraints other than continuous travel (worker lives so far away that it is impossible to make it to work).  Rural communities suffer more but do not necessarily contribute to the dilemma.

Mexican Stand Off
« Reply #1 on: November 15, 2013, 07:15:04 PM »
In a Mexican Stand Off there are three players.  Ordinarily this game is presented under the context of a Lone Ranger and two assailants.  The assailants propose "If you shoot me, my amigo will shoot you.  If you shoot my amigo, I will shoot you.  If you give me all your money you will not be shot.

Third Party
When one player shoots another he is prone to being shot by the third player.  The third player survives the round.  Likewise it is effective to shoot both players simultaneously in order to avoid Mexican Stand Off conditions.

Yes but,
Is that a game theory?  This thread is only about game theories not about the personal feelings of posters.

Maybe a guy... let's call him James Franco... planted the tree, got his leg stuck in the mud, drank his piss for a few days, then sawed his leg off with a swiss army knife.

This is P XOR Q. The exclusive or function is Boolean function. How is this related to game theory? Post your answer, explain your result in 50 words or less.

OK.

Three dimensional worlds are not built upon cube or x,y,z axises.  We tend to think of the world being cubic.

It actually made up of pentagons.  Pentagons form a regular dodecahedrons which fill three dimensional space.   On the calculus level we can produce hexagons looking at the profile of a dodecahedrons.  Hexagons form flat space.  There are four lines intersecting to each apex between the dodecahedrons, as opposed to 6 involved with a cube.

Those four lines provide the opportunity for logic.

Have you ever played the "Artificial Life"
"Artificial Life" game Microsoft gave out back like Windows 3.1b?  (I added a link so you can play it online.)

Applying the same to the "three dimensional" grid, we are able to construct quantum particles.

The pentagon has also been used mathematically to demonstrate that cubic equations are the last solvable polynomial.  This would potentially conflict with the uncertainty principle.

I see what you mean. Much like my microwave oven is powered by alternating current at 60 cycles/second, and those sine waves provide the opportunity for Betty Crocker recipes.

If you're into Conway's Life you've got to check out the HashLife implementation in Golly: http://golly.sourceforge.net/

It can handle metapixel-cells implementing the game of life in the game of life.

For example HashLife -> metapixel-p216-gun.mc.gz ... Crank the simulation speed up to 8^4 or so and zoom out and see the meta-simulation running, or zoom way in to see how each individual metapixel is constructued out of tiny bits of logic build from fundamental life pixels.

Pretty amazing algorithm, HashLife.

Those four lines provide the opportunity for logic.

Less facetiously: I'm not sure if you're implying logic is dependent on multi-dimensional geometry? But a Turing Machine just needs a one-dimensional tape. (I.e. a number-line of storage buckets.)
