Just shot it off a rest on my truck toolbox at a target about 35 yds and found I need to do some zeroing to get the scope POA and POI set right. I'm happy with it so far. Squirrels ate all my plums and pears this year.  Deer and rabbits ate my edamame (soybeans).  My faithful guard dog of 13 years had to be put down or I wouldn't have had the problem. When the seasons open, it is on.  I'm anticipating consuming/canning squirrel meat.  O, I forgot, I just got a Feist puppy. I know squirrel hunting is in her DNA, I just hope she turns out to be a good one.

Obviously, I won't be hunting deer with a pellet rifle, they have better medicine in store for them.

Yea.  She's a human magnet. Being only 6 weeks old we keep her in the utility room most of the time. She pooped on the floor one time the first day we got her, but after that we take her out and she poops and pees right away as if she's been trained. She was born and lived outside and loves grass and dirt - not carpet or tile. Good thing, because she will be an outside, free range dog. I'll post a pic so you can all say "AWWWW, she's SOO cute".

ever since ammo got so expensive I've been doing a lot of pellet gun shooting with pistol and rifle.
I picked up this Ruger Airhawk Elite 1000fps pellet rifle a few months back with 3-9x40 scope.

Works like a charm at 20-30m and once I got it dialed in I've been getting first round hits on bottle caps at 20m every time.
The day I got it zero'd I managed to cut two chopsticks in half with it at 20m, in 2 shots.

I've been using a shoebox stuffed with a tiny hay bale as a target, and printing off paper targets to staple on it to keep it cheap.

It should work nicely on bird and small game as it packs a lot of punch. The past couple times I was actually shoving bottle caps into the shoebox because it was hitting them so hard.

I don't have any pellet rifles, just pistols. I haven't used them in ages, but I'm probably gonna keep one loaded and handy now. One of my neighbors god damn cats has been fucking around in my yard at night again. As per the neighborhood covenants, ALL pets outside of houses when they aren't fenced in are supposed to be accompanied by their owners and on a leash at ALL TIMES. I've already told these assholes to keep their cat outta my yard. Last week I found a dead bird on the walkway leading to the front door, obviously the work of that fucking cat. And this weekend it was obviously out there again and was fucking with a skunk that had wandered outta the woods because it smelled fucking HORRIBLE in the front bushes where it had apparently provoked the damn thing into spraying that nasty smelling skunk piss all over the place. Shit was even smelling INSIDE my fucking house. So that's it. I see that little bastard out there anywhere near my yard at night again, I'm gonna fill it's ass with as many BB's as I can rapid fire into it's skull. The pellet pistol probably won't make it inside the flesh past the first or second burst from a new co2 cartridge, but the BB pistol packs enough velocity to pierce flesh with about 11 or 12 of the first bursts. I'd splatter the little twat with a shotgun, but my neighbors would hear that. If I manage to catch the little bastard and BB's won't put it down, I might try making a homemade muffler for my old 22 centerfire pistol. Never done it before.

Cruel? Maybe. I don't give a fuck. I have every intention of killing that little son of a bitch dead if I ever see it on my property again. Sick and tired of this bullshit. I talk and motherfuckers don't listen. Already got a nice hole to put it in. If it's fucking owner comes asking if I've seen it afterwards, I'm saying, "No. I guess you should've kept it inside like I mentioned TWO FUCKING TIMES ALREADY. Maybe a coyote got ahold of it."

Most of the people in this neighborhood are super nice and will bend over backwards to help you do anything at all. But there's one or two who I'd love nothing more than to beat their skulls in with a pair of brass knuckles.

put it over the .22 barrel, twist the wire tight, and take it out in the woods to plink and test it.

The last pellet gun I had was a Crosman 760.  I checked and still make them, I thought they were long gone.
It was a decent gun, especially for the price.

It's worth it to get a pellet gun with some sustain, heavy/dense wood and a beefy barrel(check out 'beaman')

Also, there's quiet .22 ammo.. makes it quieter than a pellet gun, unless you have a .22 from the stone age like mine that is loud as shit.

My 22 pistols pretty old, but it's not very loud. It's pretty heavy for a 22. I've held other newer 22 pistols before, and they were much lighter. I have enough confidence in it's sturdy build to weld the end of the barrel shut and still fire it. Now I'm not gonna fucking do that because I don't wanna fuck up the gun and I'm not a fucking idiot, but I'm pretty sure that if I did, nothing would happen. It's such a thick heavy sturdy gun, that I could probably kill a person with it much more effectively if I threw the gun at their head than if I shot them in the head with it.

I went out last night before sundown and taped a 16 oz Dr Pepper bottle to the barrel. The first time, I didn't use enough tape and it blew the bottle off the barrel. The second time I taped the fuck out of it and was amazed. Like 95% less noise. After 2 or 3 shots though, it blew the end of the bottle open and started getting louder.

My .22 is a rifle, shit is old and very very loud. Barrel is ridiculously thick and it's heavy.

They grouped very well; had 1 "flier" in 10 at 25 yds. I have a heavy plastic alcohol container hanging in a tree that I shot Gamo Hunter round-nosed and some PBA pellets at the same distance (about 30 yds) and they went through the first wall and almost went through the second wall. These Red-Fire pellets went through both sides and left a pretty good exit hole.  More tests to confirm. Plum/Pear eating squirrels.....BEWARE.

Holy shitballs. Didn't know a single-cock air rifle could achieve 1400 fps. That's more velocity than my Taurus 32 all day on it's best day. You could definitely frag a backyard critter with one of these.

You'd obviously need to chronograph a pellet to get the real velocities, but I'm assuming a good many of the modern higher priced spring operated rifles that claim 1000-1200 fps won't fudge the numbers much. Somebody will test and report the real numbers. It now looks like 1400 is possible with the right pellet and improvements in technology. My rifle is not quite field ready because I'm still trying different pellets and adjusting the scope. By the time tree rat season opens, I should be ready. And whatever I bag, I will eat.
