Invite Cup - Discussion

All that I have decided about it is that it will be double elimination. I need to iron out what the map pool will be like and when this event will take place because I don't know what people's schedules are like. If you are most likely to play in this, feel free to give me any feedback in order to improve this event. Here's the current player list:

adrenal1ne, Barton, Betty, haunted, naymlis, PyR3X, Slugs

It would be nice to see f0cus, kickr0, pboy, and/or $theking$ in this, so if you contact them please let them know about this cup. Also, I'm willing to add more players but I'm being selective about that.

In regard to being open-minded to adding more players; you could always do "preliminaries" that lead into an 8-man invite(seeds 5-8 v. seeds 9-12, respectively), to keep the 8 man bracket perhaps more err.. 'official' opposed to a 12 man cup? Which would essentially be the same thing, but perhaps better in name, than a 16 slot bracket with 12 participants; the top 4 seeds receiving BYE's to W2. You'd likely want to get these 'prelims' over friday evening or something to start the 8 man bracket saturday, finals sunday, etc..... this is all hypothetical just so everyone knows, it's sort of a surprise that something like this would even be considered in q2. PyR3X via phone told me that he'd make sure playboy's computer was working for this though, so hopefully they git'rdone.

There should probably be 7 maps on this list, although 5 would be fine too... dm1, dm3, ztn2dm3 are locks for a usa tourey. After that it's ztn2dm2, q2rdm2, ptrip, and aerowalk likely......... Perhaps a good idea would be to poll these maps, then poll the one with the least votes against q2rdm7 or something.

i don't see why dm3 is a lock

no one in america likes playing it anymore

there are only a handful of players that even like the map...

I think q2rdm2 would be more likely to be chosen over dm3 by players for this map pool, but I'm not really sure if dm3 is just unpopular now. You can't judge its popularity with what maps are played on public servers, since the far majority of those players are dm1 only. dm3 being locked wouldn't be a bad choice since it seemed to get played quite a bit in NADL.

in my opinion, dm3 is/was definitely a north american staple as a duel map..offers a different style of play compared to the other maps (which is why I think it should be included)..but just like everything else, times change..map lists change...whatever..you get the idea


for the maplists.....

5 maps: dm1 rdm2 rage(locks) dm3/ptrip/aero(pick 2 of the 3)
7 maps: ^ + rdm7/koldduel1/ztn2dm2 (i'd lean towards km personally)
