cloud computing has storage on several SANs that will hold the actual hard drive for your VPS machines you make and does ram and processing on a specific hypervisor in a network of powerful computers built to run VMs

the brilliance of cloud computing is that when you run a virtual machine on it... its basically just super easy to pick up and move lol you can move it from hypervisor to hypervisor in a matter of seconds due to the disk usage being on a san... and if you need to move the disk to a different san, you just scp or rsync it over the network which won't take very long either assuming you are running gigabyte or 10G lan between your different sans

its also super easy to create machines too, because it basically just makes a few small files for configuration of how many resources that VPS gets to have on that cloud

now... if you are talking cloud STORAGE, again different... cloud storage can be done a multiple of ways, but is just usually a san, or if the company is lazy just a normal file server with a large raid array

any server with a decent amount of traffic at least requires you to parse the logs and go off mostly network names when you gather the information you are looking for

if you get so few connections that you can look up each one individually... you get too many connections still, just don't even start that fuckin server
