I like dm4, too. It actually scales up to 10+ players, where e.g. dm7 is a total mess.

I vote we drop down to one server, and mymap what mod and what map gets played next :)

Zep's idea is really interesting.

But..... I am in the group that enjoys a good dm4.
Hard to though when all but 2 disconnect.

Used to hate it but it grew on me. Probably same reason dm2 did, love busting me some campers.

dm4 is between two maps where you see the most spam (dm2 and dm7). dm4's positioning in the server's mappool adds a lull in the action, which I tend to appreciate. I think the mappool would be too boring if it was non-stop action or spam.

dm7 is decent but usually is terrible when there are like 10 players on the map.

I don't think the dm server was meant to have maps like ztn2dm3 and aerowalk where things can get super-crowded and hectic. The only dm map like that is dm7(a little more size+no cg/rg helps though), and I'm not so sure I'd support replacing dm4, a map that's too spaced out if anything, with one of these other maps.

It's the most popular server so I can understand the idea behind changing things, but keep in mind it's the most popular ffa server for a reason.

I vote for you to GTFO of the thread cause we don't need a douche trying to compute stupidy in this thread. I only asked if the fraglimit could be changed and I do agree that the maps can be changed and dm4 needs to be removed. I also think that the dm server should run the old enter.net maps like flypaper and etc etc.

The sad part is that both ztn2dm3 and aerowalk are almost only mymapped on DM by people who want to rack up 4-500fph by cheaply camping spawns or sitting by the RL on rage spamming at it over and over as new spawns try to get a weapon because the spawn and item placements on these map were not designed with the intent of them ever being used for 16 player ffa.

I don't think so either, but it dosent really bother me...

It's the most popular server so I can understand the idea behind changing things, but keep in mind it's the most popular ffa server for a reason.

of course, but certainly its not because of 'hard core classic map dm players' as previously stated by others. Rather, people show up just to play and shoot it up...i simply suggested to add a few more known dm maps that would suit a 16 player limit because lets face it, dm2-7 just aren't big enough to be able to walk around a corner without running into a pill or a bfg blast... I always mymap tastydm into rotation because its plenty of room for everyone to run about and a fun map at that..

There have been periodic arguments for and against adding custom maps to it since at least 2006.

Here was the discussion that ensued in 2010 when the current set of custom maps was added to dm:

I have never used the mymap feature, but from what i have been told, if you use mymap, the very next map will change to whatever you entered.

However, if you decide to use the mymap more than once, the second selection will only come once the entire original rotation has finished (dm1  - dm8).

*so a person would have to wait 8 maps until their second selection came up

Why not alter this so that people can mymap consecutively, or after every 2 maps, or why not implement a vote map feature so the server can decide as a whole?

Am i not great?

Mymap is a feature to select a map in the given maps option. If you pick a map and nobody else has your map will be the next map in order. Other people may use mymap but it will be second place in line or third place in line depending on how many people use mymap. I see that youre saying people can mymap only once and if they do it again it will go second place instead of first, this is a good idea but I really wouldn't recommend it because lots of players may complain about their map not going in place after they had had used mymap for it to do their map.
