Hey guys,
I just added a brand new WODX server to the TS server network. It's goto command is "goto weapons", and its also listed here:
http://tastyspleen.net/quake/servers/list.cgi
It's called WODX Central, since its in Chicago, so hopefully a lot of you in the East will have much better ping there.
Let me know if you'd like me to add some of your favorites to the map rotation. I'm always willing to listen to good suggestions

We'll also try to keep things fresh there, to complement what already goes down on Whale!

I just changed the server from Wodx deathmatch to WODX CTF. It's running the full Wodx mod with no features disabled at the moment. If some of you request some features to be disabled just let us know and we will look into it.

I'm going to change the server to an older version of wodx due to a bug I found in the current version.

Now for Axal....HELL NO! Whoever is on the banlist for Whales eye is also on ours!

Our server is for those that want to play a nice good game of quake 2 WITHOUT THE BS. Now I can understand a little light smack between players that are friends with each other, but the spamming and changing names to imitate someone and pester the hell out of someone else for some retarted fun will not be tolerated! Stay out if your gonna try comming in and causing trouble. Also, don't violate Rule 1... No Racism of any kind! Ban on site if I catch it. I will be checking logs often.

At the moment the server is back to WODX Dm. I will change it back to ctf with a different version wodx shortly. I will post an update when this is done.

Groovtoob isn't banned from our server, however the constant crap that annoys the heck out of everybody when players spam stuff over and over isn't gonna be allowed on this server. This applies to everyone that plays there. First there will be warnings about it. If that doesn't get the spammers attention then kicks, and if that don't work the temp bans will come in. After that, then the hell with whoever is doing it. Reasons for this, is ppl wanna come play a game and have fun from a day at work or school or whatever and don't want to come in and see silly msgs or msgs that are directed towards them in a rude way. Also, if I had to look in the logs for something it is annoying to sort through the lines of spam junk just to get to the bottom of something that needs to be investigated in the log files. Thanks for understanding.

The hook. im not sure which hook is correct..

i tried hook2 hook3 hook4 hook5..

when i use the hook it sends me to a wall/surface and i get stuck.. only way to become unstuck is reconnect

when i reconnect and try a different hook.. i still get the same green laser hook and become stuck to first surface i hook at...

reconnect again.. same issue.

Null and I worked a few hours on the server and updated it. We got rid of the bugs and null added a new menu similar to the one at the acme servers. You should have no trouble using the Hooks. The new +hook5 is the fastest compared with +hook2. If you guys have trouble with anything let me know.

You need a + in front of all hook commands, ex: bind space +hook

+hook2
+hook3
+hook4
+hook5 (When I find some more time I'll tweak this one further to mirror the fast lag-less hook found on some CTF servers)

Hey killer,
I almost finished reworking the ban flags for various guns and features in order to enable stripping down the mod to its core elements. I also came up with a nice flag editor you'll be able to use to further customize your server. It shouldn't be that much longer now, and soon enough you'll be able to devise a slimmed down "vanilla wodx" version that most railers / ctf guys will find bearable and maybe even appealing! This way the emphasis will be purely on speed, rail power, and hopefully all round spam-less game-play lol

Hey null, Thank you for all the work you are doing for this mod and our server! This is awesome to have some flexibility for the server. I will make a few configs for the server for running different modes when you get done with the mod. So if anyone wants to play something in a certain mode, we can fix that real quick!

man just now catching up with this topic.. dunno what happend to that server.. always wished it had stayed up.. so.. lets bring it back!

could be a nice change of pace for some people and still easy enough like railwarz that almost anyone can play it an enjoy them selves.

i love the Whale server and all the crazy maps n added effects that go on there.. would love to learn how add those effects into maps. im familiar with JACK and GTK Radiant level editors. also learned how to use mapoveride files and ent dump tool.

id like to setup WODX CTF server if anyone is willing to help me with it?

please let me know id like to learn more about WODX mod / gameplay / community i think running a server would be a great way to help me learn and build a greater appreciation for it.

not really sure where to start but im going to see if i can find mod files n figure out config etc

Sure I can help you!

First get this version of the mod setup on a server:

Use the serverflags app as depicted in the above thread to select "server_ctf" and proceed to customize your ctf config flags to your liking. It comes with different wodx variants that you can select from the dropdown even xatrix or comp weapons. Basically you might want to disable overpowered or impractical features that could make it less fun for CTF players. The previous server didn't take off because it wasn't efficiently customized for CTF and too many impractical options scared of regular CTF players. But since you've run other CTF servers before I'm sure you'll have a better idea how to balance this for the CTF crowd

Once you have this running on a server, I'll see what I can do to get you the latest version of the mod or map files.
