Hehe. No, I've never done it, but I did a see an episode Pigman not too long ago where he, Ted Nugent, and a few other guys went shooting pigs from a helicopter Rambo-style. Pigman and Uncle Ted were talking about how some people might see that episode and find it utterly disgusting that people would hunt game from a helicopter with scoped assault rifles, but then they went on to talk about the HUGE pig problem in states like Texas and how they obliterate crops and ruin land at mind-blowing rates and that the government actually WANTS people to shoot more wild pigs because they have no bag limit on them, which is all very true... but still... I don't think I could bring myself to hang out of a helicopter and mow the little bastards down. Maybe it IS totally legal to do that, but I'd feel like a total piece of shit doing it. That's just "cheating", man, lol.

Well, if you can afford the helicopter I'd say "lay the porkers down". They reproduce rapidly and they can tear up ground like a bulldozer. It's probably the safer direction to shoot also....down. I've mentioned this in an earlier post, but I'll repeat: during the last flood, many oinkers were stranded on islands and even on porches of abandoned houses. Our Game Management folks advised hunters to get as many as they could....with safety in mind, of course.

Because they literally scatter in all directions like fucking cockroaches the minute they see you. Seems like it should be easy enough to hunt them. All you gotta do is lay out some food as bait and wait, right? Not exactly. They don't always visit the same places and they can tend to migrate all over the place rather than being territorial like other animals. They shit and eat and root the piss up out of an area, and then they keep on moving to some new place to completely ruin.

ImperiusDamian: Why not eat them? I've never eaten feral pig, but have talked to others that have. They have all been hunting deer and encountered them...sometimes while on the ground walking out of the woods in near darkness. One guy swears he heard a couple of them popping their mouths until he shot one and put it down. The rest scattered. It weighed 400 lbs and he said it tasted horrible. His son later got one around 150 lbs and it was really good eatin'. The rule I've been told is 200 lbs and under are keepers.....the rest just need to be scavenger meat. Hey, they got to eat too.
