Computer security works by patching the hole before it gets exploited, not the other way around.

Feel free to report any issues you find with valgrind (from a few test runs with memcheck I didn't see anything suspicious).

Mercy is for the weak. Here, in the streets, in competition: A man confronts you, he is the enemy. An enemy deserves no mercy.

But I'm concerned about allowing some of the incorrect information espoused by one of the posters to go unchallenged.

Thanks for your input r1.With nQuake, I'm not reinventing the wheel. I'm making the wheel legal to actually advertise freely anywhere (nQuake1 has gotten Id Software's blessing). All the current packages are, to my knowledge, in fact illegal. This makes nQuake2 unique. It doesn't include high-resolution textures because they would mess up Action Quake II, which is a part of nQuake2. And while you may think nQuake2 is a crappy package right now (you didn't say that though), nQuake2 is more about the installer than the actual contents. The contents will be improved upon until the package reaches perfection. Hopefully that will take less time than it has for nQuake1 (first released in 2007, perfected in 2012).The website is in place, SourceForge is in place, the mirrors are in place, the installer is working great. I can easily improve on the contents down the road. This thread is about collecting data about what can actually be improved. I'm here to listen to you guys - to make the package you all want.I might create a texture pack down the road and make it optional in the installer, with a warning message that it might mess up their Action Quake II textures. We'll see.But right now, this will have to do for a while. I'm hoping you will all try the package out and give me input on how it can be improved, because without your info, this is as long as it will go. I did this on my winter vacation from school when I was supposed to study, and that vacation is over now I'll work on this as much as I can though.I'll add a link on nQuake.com to the nQuake2 website to attract QuakeWorld players to trying Quake 2. I have a pretty solid user base (I'd say 80-90% market share) in QuakeWorld.
might be worth considering item timers, americans don't use them but they are common practice in european competition
