Just think of it as a useless sociological experiment.

It appears Elyisum was correct when he suggested starting at zero and eliminating negative values. Having the min/max range be [0,10] seemed to function OK for awhile. As soon as negatives were reintroduced and the min/max was changed to [-10,10] then the downvote faeries perked up.

What I had really wanted to try was a system that allows upvotes/downvotes on a per-post basis. But it doesn't work that way. (Maybe there's a forum mod that implements per-post votes.)

For the hell of it I've changed the config to show the existing +/- votes as discrete values instead of a total. Now one can see all the hard work put in by the downvoters.

All I've been able to find is a mod which adds a "Like" button to each post.

I'm not sure yet if it works the way I would want. I want it to keep a total for each post, not show some sort of grand total per user.
