I just tried it out... reminds me of every other spam-mod. take the super lame traps out of it and it's just a WOD/LOX clone without many interesting new weapons and a shortage of nifty grenades.
I won't say it isn't fun though, because it is enjoyable. Just not my cup-o-tea.

Didn't it come out before WOD/LOX? The ION Ripper is a spammers dream though. I just hate the way it interferes with the physics . If you are jumping a line right through it's path you will glitch and hold in mid air for a second. It's been why I barely play on there as much as I used to.

add a few more weapons that take no real skill to use, and you can compare any mod to LOX.

I am sad the Awaken mod didn't catch on here...

IMO the traps are better because you can lay them in tel;eporters and get people flying through the maps - it's a riot - the grenades are beetr in AW2 also -

Don't get me wrong, Xatrix is a blast but not as fun as my personal fave

Not only do traps take skill in placement but avoiding them takes skill as well. Just ask around how many times someone thought it would be easy to take out someone who was trapped only to have them take 'em out with a blaster while trapped.

Ask around and you will find it was me taking out foo's who think XatriX is easy.

you'll notice I said in my first post: "take the traps out of it..."

This was meant to seperate the two new features (new weapons/traps)

I think the weapons (I've tried the ion ripper and phalanx) don't require much skill because they either have an overly large area of effect, or they have those stupid bouncing projectiles that cover way too much ground for the little amount of effort it takes to hold down the +attack key..

the traps (while I think they are lame) actually do require skill. they are undoubtedly the most potent weapon in the whole mod if used effectively.

I'm not out to offend any of you trap whores, and my intent in posting here was not to bash the people who play Xatrix..

I'm just comparing it to other weapon mods I've played and IMO (with the exception of the traps) it's just as spammy as LOX.
For the record, I've played it for like 3.5 maps against about 5 people so far, so I might not have gotten the whole picture yet.

BTW, I play FFA and rails. Occasionally rail TDM.
I also make maps (no incredibly good ones, as of yet..) and talk shit.

I personally hate the ripper gun, but the phalanx is so slow your lead time is incredible.
For a while I was leading the frags for the phalanx and I don't know how or why, but I would rather have the rocket
launcher anyday because it is far easier to use.

Whirling would definately not like GROUND ZERO

also if you have the time (like you ran into a trap that has just been set) and the room, a constant backwards arrow while staying very level with no other movements, you will back out of a trap.

  noob question...  pls help

So I'm in Xatrix, and I go to change my skin...
but I discover that even though I can see all the models and skins, I only have the gay ass 007 model!!

So my question is :  how do I get the female and male models and skins? 

I tried to 'copy' and 'paste' my female/male folders from rails thinking that this would douplicate the folder. But it just removed my skins from the rails folder and re-located them in xatrix.  A temparary fix, but then rails is screwed up.

so how can I create a female and male folder to put into the xatrix one? 

( I have my download options on aswell, but like I said, I can SEE them, but not BE them )

any help for this noob is much appreciated...

I use a gamespy config so my skin is automatically loaded up when I enter the game.
BUT
I have noticed when I'm on the xatrix server if I go to change my skin or even my name
in the multiplayer window, I can only select from two models with one skin each and I automatically
change to one of those two models.
I have to quit and rejoin.
I honestly don't know what is going on there.  I am using r1q2 are you?
I just noticed this happeneing last week.
I have also noticed Govt Cheese having problems when he tried to change skins
it would change to a robot model.
