DoA-Magic Ban Status

Greetings Tastyspleen Country. It is I magic formerly known as true.soldier/true.douchebag. For those of you who don't know me, I have been banned from Tastyspleen for virtually 3 year for wallhacking/trolling and generally being disrespectful to the staff. Over the past 7 months I have been working on trying to improve my reputation in the eyes of this community. I ask you now for your support in having my ban lifted. I made mistakes which I sincerely regret, I offer my apologies to the staff and the community. Thanks for your consideration.

I have been respectful to the staff, in return they have given me the privilege of using Tastyspleen IRC channels and having my own forum account. I have not abused any of these privileges over the past several months. My IP is also not in a blackhole. The old me would be posting hacks in the forums, harassing the staff on IRC, flooding the servers with reconnects and proxying my way past the bans.

A couple months ago I taught myself to make maps for quake 2 to add new content for the community. My map was rejected but I still made an effort. If I'm unbanned I plan to continue with this effort.

I have also taken up playing quake live. I have had zero complaints put against me and my account statistics are a testament to me not being a cheater.

I think anyone who genuinely admits their mistakes and simply wish to rejoin the community to play fair and have fun should be given a chance to prove themselves again.

Ultimately these are quadz servers, so it's his opinion that's going to be the deciding factor, but I would be in favor of allowing some kind of probationary period along with a condition that anticheat is forced on his IP.

I would agree with this, from magics explanation as well it seems he is doing right.

I was wondering this since I have only seen him messaging in irc and his posts on the forums, which don't look anything from a born again person

Apparently he gave quadz a real hard time at one point a few years ago, but personally he seems fairly harmless to me... Or at least there shouldn't be any harm with giving him his very last chance.

You don't get banned for being disrespectful to the staff; although that might accelerate the process if you're already doing ban-worthy things.

I'm not thrilled he created a QL account named "tastyspleener" when he was fully aware of his ban status here.

Also weird that he's using something I typed in IRC as his QL profile quote.

I can get rid of the TastySpleenEr account if that's what quadz wants, however it would suck to start my stats off from scratch as I am working towards the dark angel 250,000 frag award. I did not choose that name out of spite or to drag it through the mud, it's a cool name and I love TastySpleen and that is why I chose it. Its like wearing the symbols of your favorite football team. I have not been trash talking excessively and even if I did, I don't see how that would be out of the ordinary given the nature of the game.

How old? Because if I recall correctly, you've done it fairly recently.

I don't know precisely how long you've been banned, but it sure as shit hasn't been 3 years like you claim. You only claim it's been 3 years just to make people think the severity of your punishment has been too harsh. You wallhacked on several occasions, and YES, it was "several", no one who remembers your playing back then (like me) is gonna be stupid enough to believe your story that "Oh, but I only did it that one time!" Not only did you wallhack, but once you were point-blank called out for it, you became a belligerent and cocky troll about it with an attitude of "Yeah, I'm wallhackin', do something about it, LOL!" When someone did something about it and gave you a temporary (*underlined for a reason) ban, you decided to press your luck and be a further prick by reconnecting to servers 100's of times in a row when it would kick you 1-2 seconds later, which coincidentally caused the game to lag a little bit for other players every single time you did it. Then you started spamming links to hacks on the forums. This was when your temporary ban was upgraded to a permanent ban. At some point, you also used a proxy to connect to evade your ban and were stupid enough to admit to someone that you did it and knew it was against the rules. Might be mistaken, but I also seem to recall that you used a proxy connection in order to spam hack links on the game servers as well.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, I'm pretty sure that you've connected via proxy to the servers a little more recently than you're willing to admit. Pretty sure I've seen you around on several occasions. Lucky for you, you learned your lesson from your previous proxying and didn't make the mistake of giving yourself away again. In fact I'd be willing to put money on it that if someone gave you a polygraph test and asked if you've connected numerous times since your last "bust" doing it, you'd fail with flying colors.

So let's not pretend you're the victim of cruel and unusual punishment here. You worked for and earned every bit of shit you've caught and then some.

Nevertheless... just to show you what a forgiving fucking asshole I've always been (despite what you probably think about me), I'll recant my previous vote of "ban him from this forum, irc, etc etc" and say YES, but only on the condition that ONE MORE little stupid breach of the rules, and you're gone FOREVER... which would already be the case if you had pulled such douchery in any other community.

That said, just shut the fuck up and accept it for what it is. No smart-assed sarcastic trolling response is required (which I know you just looooooove to do when it comes to me), which is your normal mode of conduct in IRC,... which, coincidentally, is why I've still been convinced all along that you haven't changed one single bit. You were like that before the ban, and you were like that after the ban. It's only been like a week or two at the most since you /ignored me in IRC, so I for one ain't fooled into thinking this whole "I'm a good guy" routine has been prolonged. Actually, it's been pretty nice not having to see your annoying little trolling quips and retorts in IRC. Maybe if you continue that trend, you can actually unignore me at some point and find out that my shitty attitude towards you might actually change for the better when you don't make obvious attempts to piss me off.

Really? I suppose time flies when you're enjoying a douche-free environment. If it's been anything up to or over 2 years since the time he spilled the beans on the server about how he was proxying to avoid a ban, then my vote is still YES.

I've admitted here and other places myself to cheating over a decade ago, which is something I'm ashamed to admit.  It didn't make me better - quite the opposite in fact, when I went 100% cheat-free.  I found my skill level had dropped, and had to work it back up again.  Learning experience I'd say for damn sure.

The point is, everyone has the capability to go bad, and go clean again.  I say give him one final chance.  But yeah, if any tiny rule of any sort is broken, totally get rid of him for good.  I'll admit, I never tried to actively piss off admins of servers when I cheated by doing what he did, spamming links, proxying around bans, etc...I just used cheats in-game only.  I'm not saying it's much better (it is, by only a little bit), but it is what it is.

Anyway, I digress...one last chance, and then it's adios.

I'm pretty sure he was using a proxy to get around the server ban in March.  If he is allowed back in, he should be forced to use a certain alias that way other players can see if he acts like a douchebag again.
