Yes, we get it. It's the 500,000th death of PQ.

Gamespy is going away completly.

Fader simply does not know how good PQ was back in the day. But I think its time for it to die for real. It has been a zombie ever since Gamespy sold itself way back

Meh, forget Planet Quake, I still think it'd be cool if the front page of tastyspleen had community contributed news or something. Something like 'TastyNews' that would help give people another reason to frequent the site and hopefully become apart of the community.
Isn't tastycasty simmilar to like a tastynews except it dosen't provide latest information of current quake 2 events? But I think your idea is okay cause if there was a tastynews people could get latest information on upcoming things or current events happening.

PlanetQuake was smoking hot. I proudly took this screendump (sexy win98 taskbar) 11 years ago after getting my first Level-of-the-week review. Best thing about PQ in my opinion was the goldmine of Hosted player sites and Reviews (see bottom left of picture)

'Tis a pity. It's one of the last Quake sites out there these days. Most of the download links haven't been working for a while now though.

I guess the only bad thing to lose would be the download archive.

It looks like lots of the stuff on fileplanet is gone, but if you want anything that's not a download file (a review, article, pic of the day, etc). that's what will be gone soon.  I don't know when the domain will stop working.

IGN owns the domain

Domain Name: PLANETQUAKE.COM
Registrar: MARKMONITOR INC.
Whois Server: whois.markmonitor.com
Referral URL: http://www.markmonitor.com
Name Server: NS1.P26.DYNECT.NET
Name Server: NS2.P26.DYNECT.NET
Name Server: NS3.P26.DYNECT.NET
Name Server: NS4.P26.DYNECT.NET
Status: ok
Updated Date: 13-feb-2013
Creation Date: 24-aug-1996
Expiration Date: 23-aug-2013

just need some quake people to band together and work with them on trying to get it at least extended so the site doesn't drop in augest

if the hosting on IGNs servers is no issue, and it is just the domain expiring... domain registrations are cheap

Gamespy (and everything Fox still owned related to it), IGN, 1Up & AskMen were sold to Ziffdavis.

I don't think "Earth Quake" is a good name for your new site - it seems like it would be extremely difficult to search for without returning thousands of earthquake related news links. How about something like "Quake Universe"? At the very least it's a key word more closely related to the game series.

"Earth Quake"'s name is meant to be a play on the name "Planet Quake".  Strange enough, doing a Google search for "Trenchboom" brings EQ up at the 4th search link.  So it's out there, just not many people linking to the direct site yet, only to articles (which is fine with me).
