A little bummed that Atlanta cut John Abraham from the team. Dude's been with Atlanta for a long time, and he's pretty good. I think year before last, he was near the top of the list in the whole NFL for sacks. But this past year his production wasn't quite as hot. It's a numbers game really. The amount of salary that his seniority on the team would've demanded didn't measure up to the production they got last year, so it made business sense to cut him.

Definitely NOT bummed that Atlanta actually kicked Michael Turner to the curb finally, what I've praying to Jesus they'd do for the past 2 or 3 years now. I made him a special video as a going away present though.

Looks like Gonzalez is going to play another year. It's not final yet, but I don't see them being able to justify voluntarily missing out on a chance to keep the old man around 1 more year. Whatever salary he's demanding and whatever perks he wants, he's definitely worth it. Now if they'll just hire on a decent running back, maybe somehow keep Asante Samuel on board (dunno what that would mean for Brent Grimes, but fuck him), they'll be in top shape to contend in 2013.

Well he wasn't doing jack shit in Minnesota. Maybe Pete Carroll can feed him some of those happy pills he's taking, light a fire under Harvin's ass, and get him moving again.

ESPN story quote on Harvin - "He started last season playing like a Most Valuable Player award candidate, leading the league in total yards (receiving, rushing and returning) through nine games in 2012 until he was hurt."

If he can stay healthy, he is one on the most dynamic players in the league.
One of the big problems with Harvin is he welcomes contact and tries to run over people. Harvin is not a big guy so if he takes enough hits, he is going to get hurt. He is a tough guy, so he will play hurt but he will not be the same player as when he is 100 percent.

I don't seem to remember him getting a whole lot of passes this past season. Probably the reason for that is... the quarterback they have these days. Christian Ponder seems to play the passing game a little more intelligently than Brett Favre did. Favre was a gunslinger through and through, and often he'd try to squeeze a pass into a tight window where he shouldn't have, which is why he had a pretty high number of interceptions over the years. Half the time the receiver he was passing to would make the right moves to catch it, but the other half of the time, they got outplayed by the defender and it went for an interception. Ponder doesn't seem to take as many risky chances, so in that respect he plays smarter and coaches can always appreciate that. But it also means that Harvin's stats are gonna drop. So who knows, maybe he's just slipping at WR, or maybe he just needs a change of scenery to get him productive again.

And while Christian Ponder might've not been passing to him as often as someone else would've, the times that he WAS passing to him, Harvin wasn't making many of the catches that he should've, which probably led to Ponder being untrusting of his abilities and not throwing to him.

So it makes business sense for Minnesota to cut him and free up some extra money. It's also a pretty good gamble to take for Seattle or anyone else in need of an experienced WR who might eventually land him.

What do you think Foc ?

Jackson used to be a beast, I have not watched him play lately (last couple of years).
He ran for over 1,000 last year (for the 8th straight year)
It seems like he holds on to the ball (only 2 fumbles in the last 3 years)
He is not going to out run the defense, but he will punish them and get you 4-5 yards a carry.

What do I think? I think FUCK YEAH. Steven Jackson is EXACTLY they type of RB I've been saying that Atlanta needed. I can't believe St. Louis was stupid enough to not hold on to him.

There was talk that Atlanta could've possibly drafted Marcus Lattimore or Denard Robinson for the job, but I'm pretty happy with this solution. Don't want Denard Robinson, and Marcus Lattimore is too much of a gamble at this moment.

^Most mock drafts and projections i've seen from dec-feb have him going to the falcons though.

and yeah, that's a key reason for why gio bernard is more valuable than lattimore or gnile davis in the draft... aside from all of them being tremendous athletes, gio is smarter, more patient, and larger in areas where it counts. longer shelf-life, less injury proned, etc.
