TBH you're wasting your money.  Both bands are more of a money-making conglomerate scheme rather than actual musical bands.  If you're going to see someone in concert, go for the gold in metal:  Dream Theater, Opeth, or something where the people actually have talent.

I may be shitting all over your dreams though, I just realized.  There is something to be said about enjoying some old school, guttural rock songs by dudes wearing more makeup than Tammy Faye.  I forget sometimes it's not just about the music, but the stage show as well.

I just can't justify paying the huge ticket price for a stage show like that though.  I think Ozzy is about the closest I can get to that.

Well I think DS is a little older than you. He probably grew up rocking out to some Kiss on the in-dash 8 track player of his trans am. Dunno exactly how old he is, but he's gotta be a little older than me. Sometimes we chat about NASCAR and he still remembers some of the old retired drivers that even I am probably a little too young to remember much about.

Not a real huge Kiss fan myself, but I probably wouldn't mind seeing Crue. Vince Neil still seems to be able to sing pretty well I suppose. Of course Tommy Lee never was a particularly impressive or technical drummer. Nikki Sixx makes me wanna puke with his solo projects like Sixx AM. I suppose the band is quite fortunate to still have Mick Mars around. For a while he was REALLY sick and things weren't looking to good for him. He's a pretty good guitarist. Even back when the band was snorting more coke than Tony Montana, Mick Mars had a good reputation for being a stellar studio musician, always being able to record doubled guitar tracks perfectly in sync in one take. Those were different times though. Back then, huge rock and roll bands could waste all the time in the world in the studio. They could get lazy and spend two weeks playing ping pong instead of recording and no one would give a shit. These days, record companies give artists a set amount of time in the studio that isn't very long, and they don't tolerate artists being lazy fucking primadonnas or party animals and wasting their money spent on studio time.

Exactly, I can listen to the music all day and then some, but these 2 bands are known for putting on the biggest most insane stage show of any band out there.

hehe YEA! Exacly, well almost. Except I had an "under dash" mount 8-track in a 72 Pontiac Ventura II Fortunalty not long though, Cassettes we're rolling out heavy at the time
I was raised by strict parents. All I ever heard was stuff like Earnest Tubb and Gene Autry.  My parents would never let me listen to "that devil worshiping shit" LOL. In grade school I went to my friends house and he popped in a BRAND NEW 8-track of KISS. THe first song was "I Want You" My eyes got as bigg as silver dollars !!! and i've been a fan since. After that it was on to Alice Cooper, then to AC/DC, then Motly Crew, Poison, and so on and so on. But my heart has always been with KISS.

I don't know why Paul Stanley won't just COME OUT OF THE CLOSET already. It's pretty obvious that he's always been bisexual. I wouldn't say he's 100% gay, I've seen video of him doing some pretty non-gay shit with chicks before, which "almost" makes me wonder if maybe the whole swishy girly thing he does on stage ain't just part of his act. I dunno, he's an enigma, but pretty sure he's a gay enigma.

Motley Crue - Live Wire

Really liked their first album. The vocals were pretty sloppy, and so was some of the other tracks, but overall it had a pretty unique Crue sound. Yeah, they looked like a bunch of retards in their tight spandex unitards and teased Aquanet hairdo's, but who gives a shit, you don't SEE a record, you HEAR it. In fact, now that I think about, perhaps I'll try to track down some tickets for this tour if it swings through Atlanta. Not really interested in Kiss, but I wouldn't mind seeing Crue at all.

Just so it's known, I don't really dislike these two bands.  They are both the quintessential image of what rock is all about.

I like songs like Motley Crue - Looks that Kill, or the quite melodic Motley Crue - Too Young to Fall in Love.  Also, for KISS, Rock and Roll all Night is always a classic.  Just found a good one btw:

Both these bands are actually damn good.  I still can't stomach the idea of paying money for either of these, but to be fair, I can hardly stomach the idea of spending money on any band period.  I'd still go for Dream Theater if they swung through Texas, but these two, though damn good, I'll listen to on youtube after the concerts.  Nothin beats free.

Lakewood Amphitheater, HA! OF COURSE! That's where ALL the has-been bands play. It's on the northside of Atlanta in one of more decent parts, actually there's lots of higher priced houses in that area, it's a bit of a mixture of city and suburbs. Not HUGE houses, pretty moderately sized usually, but not the cheap shitty little ghetto houses that might be crackhouses like you see on the western and southern halves of Atlanta, its actually a pretty nice neighborhood. They typically NEVER have hard rock or metal bands there, usually it's shit like Chicago or Yanni or Boston. I suppose they picked that spot because it's the biggest open-air venue in the city and they wanted that old-time open air arena rock feel going on. But knowing that now, nah, ain't gonna go. Parking down there is an utter NIGHTMARE, there is no train station nearby, and I ain't gonna pay that much to go sweat my fat ass to death in the mid-summer evening heat. If I'm gonna pay upwards of 60 bucks for a show, I want some air conditioning and no mosquitoes in my beer.

Same exact thing in Dallas, except that the Dallas event totally sold out in a few weeks. That was fortunate for me as the dallas event slightly interfered with quake-con. The San Antonio event doesn't AND it's in an arena with AC
