No need to drag this on, but there is a morale to the story. Focalor can talk a big game, but his recent performance suggests otherwise.






Deep down inside focalor knows he doesn't stand a chance against me. In life, there is no such thing as a server, anticheat, or hack prevention systems. There is only victory and defeat. I simply think and execute on a completely different level than focalor. With each passing day I train and push both my mind and body to limits that no other human is willing to endure and, because of this, am able to leverage specific situations and scenarios to my advantage. Spotting weaknesses in systems, products, markets and even other humans has become second nature. Civilizations and Societies are either advanced or destroyed based on this simple principle.


I like to test focalor. I choose coop because you can't spectate. It's amusing to watch him try to replicate your strategies... running around like a clueless chicken with its head cut off. Lately he's been getting upstaged and outwitted. If tastyspleen was a tribe, focalor would be laying in a ditch with his throat slit by some young buck trying to make a name for himself.




Remember it's never about the game....You can have God mode and i will still defeat you.

And by the way, stupid ass, technically what you're doing is considered low-level hacking, packet-flooding a server to intentionally crash it.  If quadz wanted to, he could legally take action against you.

I'd be glad he's such a cool guy.  I wouldn't be if some fuckass like you was ruining my servers I put up over $5000 a year for.

To clarify:

1. The server shouldn't crash in the first place (it's unfortunate that the edict attack vector exists, and it should be fixed in the coop mod code.)

2. I didn't add the ban because of the initial incident.  I did add the ban because in the posts in this thread, krenZ seems to take the position that crashing our servers is an OK thing to do whenever he feels like it.  He needs to understand that this is not the case.

3. If krenZ wants to abide by the rule that it's not OK to deliberately crash our servers, then the ban can be lifted.

I'm pretty sure that Clean Code has a condition for this.

There was a pretty simple way to fix it in the 3.21 codebase. You just check the max entities before spawning the dropped item and if it's going to exceed the limit, you free one of the other dropped items.


Dead bodies follow a similar system.

I can reproduce the edicts error under "deathmatch 0" however.

I haven't researched it yet, but it may be the non-deathmatch logic is unwilling to free items on the chance they might be crucial to a puzzle.

I meant in the gamex86 dll. I can see the complication if an important item (key, or weapon with a trigger) was somehow flagged as dropped. But you should be able to just look for the earliest DROPPED_PLAYER_ITEM flagged item found in the list of edicts. Players can't drop keys, and there's never any triggers on a player dropped item.

I think the only monster dropped item that is a trigger in all of the SP+expansions is the airstrike marker in rogue in that level with the giant chasm of lava.

This is true.

The default value of maxentities is 1024. The G_Spawn function simply gives up when it's spawned that limit of entities and it can't find a free one. 1024 was probably a reasonable number to allocate in a 1997 vintage server.

However, maxentities is a CVAR and can easily be increased by defining a larger value in the server config making it harder for a malicious client to launch a successful DoS.

So I try to hop on the server to get my railz fix and BOOM D-E-N-I-E-D. Try the mutant port, BOOM D-E-N-I-E-D. Try the whale server, BOOM D-E-N-I-E-D. I thought the ban was just for coop but apparently not. I want to get this resolved. I'm an asshat  . The lessons have been learned, let's put this behind us and frag on
