Damn! 2005 was one hell of a year!

well, this is going to be the longest post ive ever made on this forum so far, and this is my 1600 th post.


Most major events:

My hatred towards aw clan: ill just saaay... i got a boot print on my ass

My flame wars with banes

My dislike with btf: (gator (a little) n0cturary, and element (hated him at first. we had an extreme enemity) in the beginning   (all of the three sure dogged my ass out)

The birth of sx: june 2005  I co-found the clan. I had to shorten my name to make it fit with my tag, since "Omega Shenron" is just too long. first i called my self {SX}Omega.S , but a "3" to replace the "e" looked alot more cool

hurricane katrina/lost of some of my stuff: I was planning on staying there for two weeks. (although, my city wasnt much far from the eye, my electricity and internet was on. was playing ffa that time)

The fnshow thing: i seemed to be the only dude at his side, and most peeps (mainly banes) called me a dick rider. the thing is im just cool with h2o and fnshow.


Best Server: Tastyspleen mutant! i luv the custom maps!


Worst Server: Tastyspleen vanilla. i liked it at the beginning, but now the server is just retarded

Would be kinda neat... I've wondered about a *lot* of those who've left over the years. I figure most just either went on to other games/jobs/lives/kids/grandkids - you get the idea. About the only ones I know about why they left are the ones I used to play with out witchita & topeka (no, not kansas.net)

I used to really play a lot more than I do now (I would come home from work at 1:00am and play till 9 or 10 in the morning - sleep a couple hours and hit it again before leaving for work at 2:30pm), but broadband kinda killed it for me.

We do have phone service where I am (and, contrary to some people's ideas we have electricity too - as long as we keep the squirells well fed ) but you can forget cable/dsl/etc so unless I've a little free time taking care of my daughter's servers I don't play much anymore- get's kinda old getting fragged by someone who doesn't have skills just because your connection is maxed at 26.4. I was a founding member of CSW, DoD and a couple others no one prolly remembers ('cept for a few that even show up here on TS occasionally ) 'cause in those days everyone was joining some kinda bunch. Heck, even some of the skins that are "standard" on most q2 servers were originally Csw / Dod/ skins -  the gold on black "duke" skin springs to mind very quickly. and you can even find a few unmodified versions of them still floating around.

As far as I can asertain, I  was the first to use the name QuakeDuke online - I used it when the only connections "online" were modem to modem (yes Virginia, I really am that old) used it when all the "first" online gaming portals were set up - and can honestly say I've never logged on using anything else - I've changed it a few times ingame for fun - but I've gone back and stayed with QD.

Point is, if you google QuakeDuke you will find hundreds of instances of people using QuakeDuke. I suppose if some of these people are Q2 players they could conceivably drop onto a TS server and people who didn't know me might think it was me. Heck, I even had to chew on my son-in-law once for getting on my daughter's clinc server using my log on and getting mouthy with someone on the server a couple years ago (if any of the xquake admins are still around can verify that) but it didn't take long for that to be cleared up.

If people really know someones attitudes,  playing style,  etc, it's going to show up like a sore thumb if it's someone masqurading as them. Myself, I could care less whether or not what any of these folks do might "tarnish" my reputation as a gamer or not - I quit worrying about that after losing my second pac-man tournament (oooohhh aaaahhh) - 'cause the peeps I play with who know me - know me. I've hung around long enough, played long enough, communicated long enough they either like me or don't. Their choice.

I like to hang on TS 'cause there's a few of the older ones here I like (and I've come to respect and like a few newer one's as well) - yes banes (if you're still here) even you and for the most part seem to be ok.

I'll probably never quit playing q2 cause it's a fun online game - I like it better than any I've ever played and I've played them all at some time or the other, and if TS ever decides to quit then I guess I'll find someplace else to play. In the meantime, I'm gonna have fun - and my fun - is NOT based on what someone else says, thinks, or does.....

It's only a few dozen paragraphs long.

When posts get THAT long,and also are of a somewhat,*ahem*, unengaging subject matter,my mind clouds over halfway through and the gist of it all fades.My reading comprehension is good,but sometimes I comprehend my time is better spent otherwise. Damn QD I remember playing Heretic, Doom, Doom2, Duke Nukem 3d all on modem to modem connections for hours on end with an old bud of mine. 1 phone line for connection and another so I could talk to him as we played alot of coop stuff then.

Damn great memories from then, thanks for reminding me how good it was then!!!!

I think as this is the last real thriving (if you can say that, I think you can) Quake 2 community, most anybody that really has any devotion to the game, such as A2G (that is still enjoying it after so many years), would find it unnerving, the thought of getting banned for doing something you vehemently oppose, that is cheating, etc., when you know you're not doing it.

Like I said, I've had my suspicions of A2G in the past, but I really don't think a cheater would go to such lengths as A2G has in this thread merely to salvage the ability to "cheat" in a game.  Maybe if he had only played for a few months, and could have possibly never known what it felt like to "be good", and all of a sudden became some dominant player, but that's not at all the case with him.

So anyway, I want to give praise to Ax, first off, for putting his voice in this community, and second off, for showing he cares, and is showing that being a part of this community is important to him.  And he's making a respectable effort to clear his name.

And Ax, I say forget seeking anybody's appologies, they'll offer it if they mean it, can't really request a sincere appology.  Suggested appologies are rarely sincere.  I hope you continue to play, as you're an incredible challenge, and will only make me a better player, which is a good thing, and by doing so will be a benefit to this community and the game as a whole.

I have a dedicated phone line for the data connection 'cause when they get home from school they hit the net for homework/games/email and ifn' I didn't have the extra line, I'd never get any phone calls... Hey! Now *there's* and idea..
