Basketball at sea
« on: November 11, 2011, 10:56:42 AM »

7pm EST North Carolina will play Michigan State on the first ever game played on an Aircraft Carrier(or any boat). The 2011 championship was reconstructed on the carrier that threw Bin Laden overboard, very cool. Check out the jerseys;

Anyway, two great teams, two great coaches(Williams and Izzo), should be fun. If the wind gets too intense I think they have a back-up court set up in a hanger....

Stadium holds 7,000 and will be packed I believe, 60% active military crowd, UNC/MSU both bringing 400 each, and the rest are veterans, politicians, financial contributors, etc... Even Obama will be there(maybe they can chuck him over at 1000 fathoms as well).

UNC is preseason #1 and it should be a good show.

Basketball has some of the best athletes of any sport.  I do hate it when a player flops to get a foul call though  :grrrr:

I think that's precisely the reason he says "gay". Or more likely, just ONE of the reasons. College basketball ain't so bad. But NBA... fuck that shit. In college, they play hard and really try. In the NBA, they don't seem to really give a damn about the outcome of the game. They're more concerned with showing off the 80 new tattoos they got in the off season to the TV camera. They barely get breathed on and they fall down like someone just hit them with a barstool.

All in all, I'm just not too into it because I don't really understand the strategy of it. They dribble it down to their side of the court, and then they take 50 seconds passing it back and forth to each other before someone finally puts it the fuck up. These guys are all 6'3" and usually taller than that. For fucks sake, take a step back and toss it up at the rim. They play this shit all day every day and they can't make shots at will from inside (or AT) the 3 point line? By the time these dicks get to college, they should be able to sink 8 out of 10 shots from anywhere around the 3 point line at will. Christ, I'm barely 6 foot and I can probably hit 7 or 8 out of 10 from the line with a butt-ugly hook shot.

I mean I guess I could say the same about baseball too. Not a whole helluva lot of active strategy involved in the game. It's just who can smack the shit out of the ball the most and get the most people across home plate before 3 outs.

That's why I prefer sports like football. Maybe if they allowed people to run over each other in basketball like a runningback in football, I'd wanna watch it, but as long as they're gonna hunch over with their ass in some defenders crotch while he waves his arms around like he's directing air traffic on a runway, I'm gonna stick to football.

NCAA Mens BB tourney is down to the sweet sixteen.  Florida has made it this far, but I doubt they will win against Marquette.
Here are my predictions.

Kentucky v Indiana - Kentucky
Baylor v Xavier - Baylor
Mich St. v Louisville - Louisville
Florida v Marquette - Florida  (got to pick my team)
Syracuse v Wisconsin - Syracuse
Cincinnati v Ohio St. - Ohio St.
North Carolina v Ohio - North Carolina
North Carolina St. v Kansas - Kansas

I think Kentucky will win the tourney.

k. marshal, unc's point guard / the #1 PG in the NCAA fractured his wrist yesterday. Our reserve PG, dexter strickland has been out for the past 2 months or so... so we're down to just our shooting guards, and our 3rd string PG who is a little whitey from the town I currently reside in.

I think NC can handle Ohio even though they are shorthanded.  The next game will be against NC St. or Kansas, that I think is a problem.

I hate to see teams lose players during a tourney.  I like to see all teams at full strength, that is the only way to see who deserves to be champion.
