Screen freezes for 2 secs every 60 secs and when using BFG / Rocket

Hello Chaps

I recently upgraded my laptop to DELL XPS L502X i5 and since then (every 60 secs) my screen freezes for @2 secs (especially when using the BFG or Rocket) it then unlocks and I can continue play

I have tried the 'force Vsyns=Off' in my Graphics Card Settings and rem'd out each of the lines 'one at a time' in the Q2 autoexec/Config to find the issue but still the freeze occurs, ps the BFG was for testing

If I go back to my Older Sony VIAO theres no problem

Is this it, maybe the hardware these days are to flash for the Q2 game?, life with it?

hohoho dont use BFG. problem solved!

srsly tho: set gl_dynamic 0

turns off the dynamic lighting effects you see from both RL and BFG.
these can cause some setups to drop fps.

look for upgraded vid card drivers for your rig too.

Update all drivers you can. I had a stuttering issue with Q2 on Windows 7 64 a while back that ended up being a driver issue with the Realtek audio drivers. It took a while to trackdown and I spent most of the time trying to tweak the video drivers and settings only to have it be a sound related issue.

Like you I'd been concentrating on the light produced by the BFG/Rocket rather than the sound
