Quake II preferred TC tools
« on: September 20, 2011, 02:45:02 PM »
I've read through some of the forums, but can't find the answer.
Here is the basic question:
What model editor works now, in 2011, to make md2 models from scratch? What editor do you use?
In 2000 I used a combination of True Space and Milkshape. True Space is now free but hangs on Windows7. Milkshape is no longer on PlanetQuake. I found another Milkshape, is this any good?  :???:

As a side note, I found QuArk to make maps, and I'm happy with it. Still since I have done nothing for Quake in ten years, there too I'm obviously open for suggestions for an efficient map editor. All we will do is stuff for Quake II, nothing else.

Blender for the models & exporting (2.49 has a md2 exporter, not sure about the 2.5x releases).  QModeler for setting up the skins.

Thanks. I found the older version of Blender. But I am not out of the woods yet.  :'(
Does anyone have a help file or tutorial for the Quake Modeller programme? I found the file originally at ModDB, yet nothing else with it.  :???:

Shoutbox isn't the place for rehashing this. Here's the thread about DM server spawn farthest from 2006/2007:

but that's *NOT what the DM server is supposed to cater to

It's not ideal for 1v1 situations, but that's what the DM server is supposed to cater to. Also, there are 7 other maps besides DM4 (actually 8 for the automatic mymap map between dm8 and dm1). I think there are more positives than negatives.

It happens to better players too. I know I've been in first, or second place, only to die and spawn right next to the other leading player multiple times in a row, and having to dodge rockets in a narrow corridor without any weapons myself (other than blaster).

It's not the best for 1v1 situation
