Incidentally, one of the Hotels at Ocean City is called "The Irene". Coincidence?

Best of luck to everyone in Irene's path. You could be without power for months if it gets torn up bad, i was without internet for i forget how many months after Charley. Be sure to find a way to stop into the forums to give us a status update afterwards by phone, or whatever means you can achieve.

Storm has weakened, but 5x more importantly(for my location) the track has switched it enough so I won't get several feet of water in my yard. There's still a decent size ocean surge(ocean had already broken through on my way home from work and sand dune was in road), but a ridge starts about 1 mile away from my house parallel to the ocean.

Anyway, they really dramatized this one... even more so than usual. Not trying to be "complacent", but in no way was this even close to the worst hurricane in 50-60 years plus(what it was projected to...). Yeah it's a big ass storm, but jeez, look at isabel that his us in 2003:

Was bad enough when it hit, and it's a GREAT thing it didn't stay 165 mph like in that pic lol. Very organized / huge storm.

.....anyway, things can change though. I'm not completely out of it yet :>

Nice erik. It's 5am and blowing 70-80 here(gusts of more), eye is huge so the wall will go over a few miles away from me. Power hasn't went out once, probably.

Did the Raleigh Challenge, we started around 1 PM and finished in 77 minutes (30th place, haha). Weather got progressively worse as the day went on, towards the end we were getting pelted by rain in downtown Raleigh, and finished soaking wet. Was a lot of fun though.

I am far luckier than most: I'm high on the Palisades cliffs so I'm not flooded,I still have power and the water still runs uncontaminated. Its 8am and has no sign of letting up. What the future wll bring,what devistation was wrought has yet to be measured. It won't be pretty.

But strange to say...this has been one happy day for me regardless...

The lady that I've been dating all week...the one still blissfully asleep mere inches away...is now My Woman.
And it seems she'll need to linger longer...
(uppdate:10:30 and the skies are clear...and she still is sleeping)

Yeah, now I'm slightly concerned. I know the storm got worse for us in Raleigh as the day went on, so I'm curious to know how he ended up. JESSE RESPOND.
