Nookie, that was gosh-darn beautiful. Very comprehensive and well thought out. But it's not like we're dealing with a god here that cannot be summoned and questioned on how this Quake 2 universe was made. Why can't we just contact the lonely programmer(s) that created the physics of Quake 2 and have a little chat with them. It would be very interesting to know every exact detail of why all the bugs work the way they do. Again, thanks for this article, I found it outstanding.

I once contacted one of the map guys for a question about city1. I guarantee you'll get the same response I did: "I don't remember. That was 10+ years ago. I'll have to go check."

There's no need to talk to the designers, they would only tell you to look at the code. All the physics is in the published sources and you can look at the original game DLL and see how it behaves.
