The hardest jumps in dm1

Was easy to watch all 3 of Haunt's jump demos -- man he made that ssg one look easy; that first jump from the lower ledge instead of upper GL is very tough, and I highly doubt reap is hitting it like he said. Nice stuff and not cut from like 100s of attempts to look easy.

these are all pretty sad demos to me, i mean i was expecting more from a guy who played jump mod 1/2 his life lol.

i will have to make a nice dm1 jump run for u guys when i get really bored.

the shells to hyper to mega entrance IS the hardest jump on edge, but dins done it 5 times in a row and is MUCH better at it then u haunt.

i can only make it like 1/10 without 3 hours of warm up quake which is rare.

but overall id say i have the best consistancy on doing all the trick jumps on edge while playing.  although id say u might have me beat on ssg jump which just makes u a really ez target in my eyes. which is why i dont use it except in warmup.

but keep up the good work haunt, i know u can do better since your around 1/3rd as good as me on jump mod.

Well, DinSum certainly has some great jumps, and if he can do it from shells to mega 5 times in a row that's awesome. However, it's not the hardest jump on q2dm1 as you say.

lol shells way is harder than that, coming from mega ramp str8 across with 1 jump to mega ledge entrance is harder than that and still ez.

hehe, I beg the differ. Jumping from shells is a whole lot easier, to me at least. Since you can do it from both sides (armor side or shells side, whatever suits your mood that day), also the way you land the first jump can differ from time to time. That jump I've nailed quite a few times allthough never 5 times in a row I must admit (I'm newb, I find jumps and do them once and move on, if it's usefull I'll try to learn it fairly well if not I don't care). This I've done once (allthough never bothered trying it again, it's a pointless jump) Try it and see how easy it is, it's pretty much a pixel jump, both from where you jump, how you fall down in the corner without touching floor, and how you hit the hyperledge. Comparing it with jumping to mega from gl in 2 jumps is, hmm, weird. That jump isn't considered hard at all, it's a pure routine jump.

Hmm, now the hardest jump? Now that's an intresting question, I have no absolute answer. At least it has to be a jump that is close to if not impossible to get 5 times in a row

Yeah, Unholy Jumping Bible. Looks a bit dated today, since it's missing a lot of jumps that weren't known back then. But still, it's by far the best collection of jumps on q2dm+ztn+match1 maps. And some of his weaponjumps are great stuff (favorite being the ladder+grenade jump by megahealth on ztn4 I think. Besides, it has a real nifty rating of jumps in the recams, which was to great help for me when being a newbie.

Awesome high GL jump to the upper RL dael, never seen or heard about that one before.

Also, that circle-strafe, circle, or however you wanna one-jump it, from the upper RL to the shard down by water.  I was attempting that over and over earlier, and would get so very close, like a few pixels away I guess, but never got it.  When at the upper RL, facing the shards, I presume you jump from the left corner by the RL, and have to land at the extreme left edge of the ledge that actually has the shards, not the rockets.  That sure seems tough to do.

Yeah, that's spot on. Try it and you'll be able to do it. From the leftmost corner of RL to the very extreme left of the shards ledge. It's so close it must be possible, and seen it in a demo somewhere (even forgot which one ;( )

As for the GL jump, it's first seen (at least that I know of) in Unholy Jumpingbible, he also has some other sick highthrown nade jumps (from floor of center arena in q2dm1 up to the megaledge, not standing on the stairs  ). Well, if you try it yourself it's hard. Done it once myself but forgot to record it and got pissed off (jumpmod style) didn't try again.

Once you get into weaponjumps (nades and rockets) it's the greatest thing, especially on your own server. Then you play with 150 ping and can't do any of the fancy stuff

ive done all them atleast once i agrre the nade 1 at rockets is a pain, i only bothered doing it so i can say ive done them all. but i wasnt really counting weapon jumps.

speed rj on stairs by shotgun in main area to gl is a pain for me aswell. but doable

btw i said 1 jump from gl to mega entrance from ramp, not 2

deffinitly 1 of the more handy ones.

med lil box at Y/a str8 to mega is difficult but ive hit the wall once completely clearing mega box.  i hope to demo it some time.

starting from water entrance to mega, dj off bullet ledge to upper rl seems possible to me ive come insanely close but never done it never seen anyone do it.

Hehe, sorry but of all the threads you've started/replied to, this is the only one I find a bit intresting aside the trashtalking. It's pretty much because I've been searching for new jumps on q2dm(1) since I started q2 in late '02, watching Polosatiy's jumps on q2dm maps. I mean, I don't care about whether people hate you or you hate me or us or whatever, if you got some nifty jumps just record it and put it up somewhere.

But I'm also a bit (actually very) confused, mainly cause of you stating that shells to hyper to mega is the hardest jump on q2dm1, then laughing at a, imo, harder version of the same jump saying it's even easier than jumping from top of megaslope to mega-ledge in one (1) jump. Yet, I've never seen anyone do it, ever. I've seen people do the shells to hyper to mega "a lot" (meaning at least maybe 5+ players live on servers, which is "a lot" when it comes to the "hardest jump on q2dm1" to me). And jumping from GL to mega in 1 (a crazy circlestrafe jump I presume) jump is a jump I've never even heard of. Everyone does it in either 3 (most common) or 2 (most usefull) jumps.

1: if you mean jumping from gl to mega in one jump is ez (a jump I've never seen), then how can doing the very well known jump shells-hyper-mega who a lot of players have done/are able to do at times be harder? And why don't you ever do it on servers?

2: if by one jump, you mean one jump from top of slope to gl, then using the speed of the first jump to get across to mega, then I'm really confused. That's an old well known routine jump, which is not considered hard because with some practice you can do it quite consistent (2/3 times and better), it's a jump that is used in serious games by some of us. Then it would be nice if you could make a quick demo showing me you doing the jump I posted just like 2-3 times in a row just to show it's that easy. Then I'll have no problem at all admitting it's indeed easier than I thought. But why doesn't anyone use the jump then? I'm sure a lot of players would use it to show off.


Anyway, my confusion aside, let's get back on topic. Yeah, I include weaponjumps whenever talking of trickjumps. It's more to q2 than just the basic doublejumps/strafes/slopes/ladderjumps/waterjumps. Trickjumps are to me at least, every possible jump to do on a map with standard dm settings (weapons on, health/armor on, falling damage on, no altered physic settings etc). So if there is a rl on a map, any rocketjump is a trickjump. If there is none, a rocketjump would be a "staged trickjump" which is impossible in dm, and I just care for jumps possible in dm. So, any quad or bfg jumps on q2dm1 = yawn. Any rocketjump/grenade jump/doublejump etc = ownage. As for health and so on, it's tricky Since on q2dm1 you can if you're patient enough get as much health as you want by picking up stimpacks but is it worth waiting? No, just use godmode instead, same stuff just no need for waiting ;P

I don't doubt you've done the gl jump to rl, it's a dm1 classic imo (well, at least for everyone who has watched Unholy jumping bible), it's just about being persitent and just say "f*** it, I wont stop till I make it", then usually you do after a while (loong or short, mostly depending on how lucky you get, I tend to think the first time you do a jump it's maybe 90++% luck and 10--% skill (pointless in games), as soon as you manage to do it 2 times in a row it's more like 60-70% skill and 30% luck (usable, but only as a last resort/showoff), once you do it 3 times in a row and more like 80-90% skill and 10% luck (it's a jump worth definitely worth using while playing). Lol, remember I changed the sky to space1 so I could find the point in the sky to which I should aim at to get the nade to go straight up and down Just getting the right bounce witht the nade was half the job done.

The speed rj+doublejump on stairs by sg then double off the hyperledge to top GL is annoying, but it's not THAT hard imo, not compared with some other weaponjumps. It's still too hard to make me try it in games. The main problem with hard weaponjumps in general is that they are a waste, because missing them makes you lose quite abit of health and also lose any positional advantage you may have had before the jump. Besides, you can't do them as a last resort as some trickjumps because you actually need 50 health++ to survive them, and you are rarely that desperate with 50 health, unless you just want to showoff which to me is soso funny: doing hard jumps when playing is really nice, but then you really need to nail them at first try and make it look easy. Once you start missing attempts at "showoff jumps"
