Not sure what`s going on, but I linked to my textures folder in baseq2 (baseq2/textures) and it doesn`t load anything. :???:

Looks like a great program tho. I plan to add some Q2 mapping in the mix to my Q3 mapping and this will be useful for overrides.

We will try to recreate this, also try filling in all fields as well if you only filled in your path to textures just in case, I don't recall ever trying that. You do have all of the stock quake II thumbnails included with the tool, are you seeing them? and if they're fine,  is there anything in cache directory other then thumbnails starting with e1-e3?

Edit: an issue was found with spaces in directories. c:\quake 2\baseq2\ or c:\my games\quake2\baseq2, could this be what is happening on your end?

Some installers default to the "Program Files" directory and some use the main game folder "Quake II" so spaces are a real possibility.

TEMP BUG FIX:
It was recently brought to my attention that some people might need "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)" in order to properly run the application without errors: "Error while generating thumbnail at index <number>"

You can download and install "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)" from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5555 4MB

Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=19 22 MB

If you get a crash in mapmixer, make sure that the "textures" and "maps" paths you specify in settings, are both in the same mod directory ex:
 C:\quake2\baseq2\textures, C:\quake2\baseq2\maps

Also if the "env" folder doesn't exists in: baseq2 and weapons directories, make sure to create it. (This crash bug will be fixed in next version)
ex:  C:\quake2\baseq2\env,  C:\quake2\weapons\env,  C:\quake2\your_mod_name\env

On another note, Kitsune has updated the manual with even more map overriding tips and tricks:
