2 matches demo'd against tubby on an aussie sever, but with packetloss between 1-2%. got some ok shots in, could have done better. but tubby says my reflexes r inhuman

Tubby is right; you do have inhuman reflexes... My favorite is when I join a team to 1v1 then you immediately leave.

when has that ever happened? never as far as i can recall? unless its TDM cause i suck at that. and if u were refering to the other morning i was about toleave for work anyways. and besides i don't play anyone 1 on 1 who doesn't use anticheat anyways. not saying u r sus or anything, its just been my personal choice not to play anyone 1 on 1 who doesn't use anticheat

AVG deletes my AC all the time no matter what exceptions I put in. so I use AC... and if you want me to use it when I'm not, just say so and i'll gladly load it up. You have left during that insta match you just mentioned right after I had joined up, and once when I waited for you to finish playing a bot. I say "lets play" and join up, you just leave. It's happened even more in tdm..  I just figured it's an inhuman reflex

i wasn't playing an insta match against trav the other day? that was tdm on irtdm2? i had told trav before that game it was mylast one cause i was late for work. and when was i playing a bot? most the time don't pay attention to who enters during a game. if u entered i didn't see you though.

i promised myslef i wouldn't do this, but meh another linux rant. i have tried alot of distros and as far as i am concerned all distro's are still crap  for gaming. If they could fix that issue linux wouldn't be too bad. It just seems nowadays someone changes the wallpapers, and the name and WHAM you have a new distro without giving any thought to gamers. The most stable version of linux i have tried that just worked out of the box without any hassel was linux mint 10.10. i have tried ubuntu, lubuntu, puppy, pclinuxos and a few others aswell. And also I just don't see how distro's like ubuntu can be lighter on resources than winxp like the linux comunity claims, especially if you are using the compiz features. sure you can get distros like puppy that are very lightweight and puppy is blistering quick, but most noobs going from windows tolinux like ubuntu or mint

in ubuntu... with compiz and all that flashy stuff running... i could stable frames doom3 on my old pc, in winxp it just wasnt possible ON THE SAME MACHINE

in crunchbang, a fresh install idle uses like 60mb of ram

my #! set up (just debian with openbox more or less) my computer is so snappy its ridiculous lol

and as far as games go... depends who you are i personally dont use linux to game except the occasional bit of quake (which all work GREAT on linux btw), but some people go really in depth with wine and get pretty much anything running windows users trolling linux forums saying "but can it play crysis" just get laughed at now cause yes it does play crysis and just about as well as windows lol

ive seen tons of stuff run in linux, from crysis to starcraft... it is possible just gotta play with it a little bit

and if you just wanna play quake... quake2 has a guide on this forum that got it working for me (though i didnt use it due to config issues with how much i hated aprq2, it had the same problems as aprq2 on windows), quakelive works basically out of the box as long as you run firefox or iceweasel... it didnt work for chromium lol

quakeworld has nquake which is native, quake3 even has a client in the debian testing repos and if not that you can get a .run easily available to install it, quake4 has a .run installer on id's ftp site and so does doom3

even the old school dooms have very solid linux support.... saying you cant game on linux is a very narrow view, it just depends what games you want to play, and how much effort youll put into making them work if you want to play id software stuff or the unreal games NO PROBLEM! if you want to play something main stream like starcraft 2, source games, crysis, or WoW, then they are easy as cake to get running in wine... however some games take quite a bit of work like editing the wine registry and replacing pseudo libs and shit


honestly, chances are you didnt notice anything different about the distributions you tried except for a different DE and set of tools... you wouldnt even be able to tell the benefits of running a hard core gentoo set up vs a mint set up

my point is that a noob who has used windows for 15+ years and wants to install thier fav game on linux, goes and reads up on how todo it, sees a shitload of commands, gets told about a terminal, you have to do this that and the other, it's just too overwhelming, instead of being able to double click, and presto installed
