I never really liked 1vs1, and was thinking about it the other day.  It's like you get a bad spawn, you can try to make things equal and come back.  But people don't like how you can get the lead and wait things out on some maps.  Couldn't you just camp RA lift and wait things out on dm2 once you get the lead?  Personally I never saw the huge problem on dm1, because I think it's fun to wait at upper rl, and you can get some stuff and try and get them.

Muerte: awesome, I'd love to watch them and I"m sure others would as well, problem is chasecam sucks : (.  nice to see a "fresh" face that plays like the terminator.

I absolutely disagree. He never delivers game equal to his abilities in friendly duels, and even quite uniquely so. His EAP game vs Norman proves this, because a 40% IsBjörn would never beat any PLD winner OR runner-up.

but here is a quick run down....dm2...seriously?  no aero?....heartbreaker...."fury" are you fucking kidding me? rdm1...the fuck is that?..match1 with timers? LOL

Aerowalk 'have' name q2duel1 since SumFuka Duel Mod (1998)  and as u can check was played in 5 edl seasons

q2dm2 wrongly introduced in EDL by Scandinavians players who due battle mod bug (no BFG spawn/no rail) played with BFG1 is not worse balanced then q2dm1 but need more skill then 'all chain no brain' q2dm1 is very playable on OSP or opentdm without BFG

fury was pole 'wish' dunno why  
q2rdm1 is very nice duel map played in EDL and 2x2 q2scene league

I would really like to recommend everybody to give the entire rdm map pack a second or third chance. rdm1 would not be a favorite, but it's definitely a good map. rdm4, rdm5 and rdm10 especially, are absolutely amazing duel maps, and it's such a pity and surprise, really, that they haven't gotten more attention.

q2rdm5/q2duel3 - Brutal Force  (real name fbdm5) selected in two most popular pack but never played in any league (personalty i like this map )

q2rdm10/fixed1 - Heavy Metal  played in Ukrainian Duel League (according to Blaizz) and also played in Serbian Duel League back in '99, never got deserved attention

EDL #8 season IsBjorn got late in shape (he already lost his EDL game vs Syanid) and this was played while Syanid was practicing for EDL #8 Final game vs PURRI

95% of the time the people who are using non-anticheat clients are A. because they are cheating quite worse than timers... or B. they arent in the group of good players so it doesnt really matter as they will get raped anyway

yeah anticheat isnt forced in america, but thats just because we have lots of casual players playing ffa with the 3.20 client, most of the tdmers and good ffa players rock r1q2, aprq2, or are weird and use egl or q2pro

and with most of the ffa players using 3.20... i dont even think the play command is disabled on the ffa servres

Europe has been playing with timers forever and generally they like them.  It can be a pain using the clock and I guess we use the honor system (as far as external timers).  I think most players here would favor not using them, I'm not sure though.

I think it's more fun to try and keep track of it in your head, especially quad.

The argument of using timers so you can solely focus on your opponent is just silly to me with this game. There are only two different times, 20 and 30 seconds...... quake 2 item timing is cake compared to other games. Looking at the gameclock is not some big sacrifice to other parts of your game / does not divert your focus much. And the times it does hinder your performance, I think that this adds EXCELLENT dimension to the game. It's a double-edged sword, think about it...... I know you're saying that timers allow you to focus on your opponent more, which adds dimension as well in a different way.

Playing few games per month just for fun is totally different from playing TDM/CTF in serious leagues like was ClanBase, Jolt, NDML, euroq2l, 2x2...

Since you never played TDM/CTF with proxy programs like Xania, Nitro or BiteMe! allowed in every leagues even in ClanBase (till q2ace) let me explain: wav timers and team messages r actually downgrade from Xania/Nitro/BiteMe!

.tooktrigger [on/off]             (de)activates Xania's tooktrigger. Whenever you pick up a Item marked for the tooktrigger in the xaniam.ini (has a ,1 at the end) the !took alias will be called. Set it up with e.g. "alias !took Took {%i} at %l".

%![soundfile]      teamwide play command. Same as play_team in LMCTF. Play any sound file on the PC of your teammates. Usage : bind x "say_team %!world/xian3.wav Attack %u Noowww !". The %! string itself and the following .wav file itself will not be shown, but any other text will be. This feature requires every one in your team to use Xania and to have set ".st" to "on". The old usage via "!play" is also still supported.

after all that comfort when u every time took armor/weapon/powerup inform your tm and set wav timers automatically (yours and teammates ) today's manual way pressing  timers/teammessage keys is hard labor
