bspView
rendering quake 2 BSP maps in the browser.

Controls:
W - move forward
S - move backward
A - strafe left
D - strafe right
Cursor: click and drag to move viewport
-if some maps don't seem like they load then move the cursor. Some maps seem to offset the camera origin.

NOTE: This software utilizes the webGL 3D Graphics API so you'll need a fairly modern browser with webGL supported. I recommend either the Google Chrome Developer or Google Canary Builds.

-I'm only supporting maps from /baseq2 for now but I'll have xatrix, ra2, tourney.. etc soon.
-you'll notice there's files other than native bsp files in the drop down box, this is due to my faulty regular expressions [Do not click these]
-I can't test all 4,000 maps, so If you come across one that doesn't work post about it here. (developer console in the works...)

Nice, man.  I'm getting 60 FPS in Chrome on OS X.

I notice the "q2bsp.js" code doesn't include any author or copyright comments.  Do you know where it originated?

NOTE: This software utilizes the webGL 3D Graphics API so you'll need a fairly modern browser with webGL supported. I recommend either the Google Chrome Developer or Google Canary Builds.

Supposedly FireFox 4 now supports WebGL, too.  (Haven't tried it yet.)

yeah it was written by this brilliant guy, brandon jones - http://blog.tojicode.com. Another demigod of graphics programming. I came across his site while learning about some webGL stuff. Writing shaders is one thing, but parseing and compiling bsp files takes things to a completely different level. I can barely understand id tech 2. Modern game engine developers have to be some of the smartest people on the planet. I now take great solace knowing that I'll never be on the level of carmack and co.

Anyways, just going to be developing my javascript skills, waiting for a stable release of flash player 11 so I can port the code.  got any background on the dm2 file format? I want to try and do something cool and  I don't want to resort wading through the quake 2 source because c++ makes my brain hurt.

By the way, what do you think of WebGL?

EDIT: LOL sorry for the long delay, had to run errands...

yeah it was written by this brilliant guy, brandon jones - http://blog.tojicode.com. Another demigod of graphics programming. I came across his site while learning about some webGL stuff.

I'm having trouble locating his project page for the q2bsp code.

Do you have a link handy?

So far I've only found his glmatrix library.

Writing shaders is one thing, but parseing and compiling bsp files takes things to a completely different level.

Since you're a math enthusiast, you'd certainly have no trouble grasping the concept of binary space partitioning in N dimensions, and the polygon-plane intersection test used in the 3 dimensional case.

All the rest is implementation detais.   ;D

By the way, what do you think of WebGL?

I think it's long overdue.  Of course, we'll see if Microsoft ever supports it in Internet Exploder. :ohlord:

Didn't work in when I downloaded "minefield" 4.2a1pre from the Firefox nightly build page linked of your error message.
