some one wanna make a tutorial?

its pretty cool looking to watch honestly, always thought players like king were so fun to watch because of how smooth they look

would love to know how to do it better

any tips or tricks would be sweet

They were recorded by RD|Julios, later of the famous Xenoclan. He makes the technique pretty easy to understand and builds up to the yellow armour to megahealth jumps at the end.

Think that is just the q1 engine... played that game for like an hour.

it is :/ its kinda a horrid free game built off of a quake engine...

reason i wanted to learn circle jumping is cause it looks way smooth and entertaining when i watch old schoolers like king do it

ill probably never do it over strafe jumping... but learning it would be cool

Lately i noticed only zorre (se) using circle jumps to gain position better then he could do with strafe jump

1st demos recorded in history of q2 demonstrating newschool of playing edge (if i remember well) show full value of circle jump. Don't forget in that time 98/99 average pc was Pentium 1 with voodoo1/2
With circle jumps u would gain more advantage then with strafe jumps

Julios and Remer who both participated in trick competitions on Ride The Rocket trick jump site rly nailed circle jumps in this demos

Seems pretty good to me for a free game. Most of the weapons are interesting (to me), but the movement seems worst to me than stock Q2.

Thanks for the demos. I've seen quite a few old school matches on youtube (e.g. lordvader, immortal, thresh) and from those ones they didn't look as fast as these guys. Maybe I'm dead wrong on this though.

Also that's some amazing ping for back in '99. Yeesh.

thats cpm defrag

vq3 defrag doesnt have a lot of cool features of cpm movement such as double jumps, ramp jumps, or bunny hopping (the air control turns you see) and vq3 tends rely solely on weapon tricks with SOME strafing

quake4's movement is also AWESOME!!!! but thats more in a practical sense

if you want to see quake4 movement, go watch some pro duels on youtube, see the crouch sliding and shit... stuff like placebo effect end up highly mobile and awesome... essentially if you look up quake4 defrag you get vq3 defrag with q4 graphics

the strafing is slightly different, but the major difference really ends up being the crouch sliding to get up stair cases and ramp jumping and stuff that really is much more impressive on the actual maps... some fast caps might be cool too

also those demos replayed in q3mme XD quake3's movie maker edition mod is second to none for frag movies...

each quake has its own movement, each is complex in its own way, and they all are quite awesome

vq3 or qw being the shallowest... q2, and cpm being the deepest, and q4 being in the middle id say... no clue about quakelive :/ i dropped that shit before they added in double jumping and stuff but it was fairly basic like q3 up to that point
