Why would I grace you with an argument when you have yet to give me a viable argument?  God bless you.

What is your definition of a viable argument ffs?? Fuck me, if this isn't a viable argument then what is?

Oh wait - I know. It's an argument that you can win.

Of course, just one more example of Survival of the Fittest (intellectual) at work...

Hmmm. Two down.

Anyone else care to step up to the plate?

Idk. Maybe I am being a bit hard on these guys. I guess it must be quite hurtful for them to realise that all their hopes and dreams hold less water than a broken glass. Sort of like a kid being told that Santa doesn't really exist - you gotta feel sorry for them.

Funny, though, that nearly everyone who has posted on this thread seems to be a religious person... I don't get that. What are they doing on the forum of a computer game that promotes violence and death? I thought their god(s) were all about peace and love.

Maybe they've gone to a better place, Allah willing.

Yes, and my offspring will take my ideas and beliefs into the next generation, and your offspring will take yours.
This would only make sense in an evolutionary context if your own particular set of genes made you inherently predisposed toward your set of ideas and beliefs.
Quadz, I think our 'ideas & beliefs' are more a product of our social environment than they are of our genes.

Precisely; so why do you keep claiming such things are associated with evolution by natural selection?

Just then they came in sight of thirty or forty windmills that rise from that plain. And no sooner did Don Quixote see them that he said to his squire, "Fortune is guiding our affairs better than we ourselves could have wished. Do you see over yonder, friend Sancho, thirty or forty hulking giants? I intend to do battle with them and slay them. With their spoils we shall begin to be rich for this is a righteous war and the removal of so foul a brood from off the face of the earth is a service God will bless."

"What giants?" asked Sancho Panza.

"Those you see over there," replied his master, "with their long arms. Some of them have arms well nigh two leagues in length."

"Take care, sir," cried Sancho. "Those over there are not giants but windmills. Those things that seem to be their arms are sails which, when they are whirled around by the wind, turn the millstone."

lol... why would you assume that I am religous? Because I know MUCH more about the concepts of evolution than you do? I am not religious whatsoever.. all I have done is  I proved all of your garbage posts wrong, and you didn't say shit. Lets think about that sentence a few times.. You(tubby) kept trying to relate everything with natural selection for the last few pages: PROBLEM IS, ALL of your examples were wrong, because you haven't the slightest idea what the hell you are talking about. I have already proved this several times. Armor was wrong about you not having a viable argument, you have had NO argument at all the entire time. It's just been me wasting my time on someone(you) who is either trolling my rather hard, and succeeding, OR you have some kind of psychological disorder. Since there is nothing you can say to my posts, EVER, because I leave you practically no avenue to argue with FACTS, you usually try to quote a single sentence from my post and take it out of context. Guess what, you still fail miserable at that too. :sorry:

Here's a thought:

God...is but a perspective. An outlook ,viewpoint, something that can see a situation from any and all angles, and knows the outcome of all probabilities. And so seeing all,it may consider "us" as abstract:only vaguely connected to itself but still real enough to be interested in our odd existance to kibbitz on occasion. Like when Bugs Bunny gives Elmer Fudd an exploding cigar...we watch the explosion and LAUGH,but to Elmer the pain is real, the embarassment profound and his rage justified. But only as justified as someone who is trying to gun down another sentient life form on the flimsiest of pretexts: Its Wabbit Season!

Perspective. watch this:

Its from Peter Brooks Mahabharata: Krishna talks to Prince Arjuna. Krishna is supposedly God incarnated,Vishnu the flavour du jour. And this production of this ancient story made me really appreciate this Holy Man.Why?

Because he's a lying cheating cocksucker.

But he lies, and cheats and ruthlessly manipulates those around him soley for the benefit of the Big Picture, like a God would...elements of the abstract dancing to his schemes, for an ultimate end.To those of us who cannot concieve of that Big Picture its grossly unfair. But fairness is but another illusion.

Quadz, I think the principles of natural selection work on every level of the human condition; genetic, social, moral, religious, and so on.

For example, why are the there more Christians in the world than Jews? Simply because more people have selected Christianity over Judaism - in much the same way that females select fitter males over the weaker ones. Thus we select the social ideas, beliefs, morals, and religious standards which we view as being superior (fitter) than those of other social constructs / groups.

So when I refer to 'natural selection', I guess I am drawing a longer bow around the concept than those who seek to refute it - I'll admit that, but I believe it completely: There is not one part of any person's life which is not directly influenced by this wider form of natural selection.

Like I said in post #96, it's happening right here and right now, all around us, everywhere.

Ok Haunted, sorry that I assumed you're religious. My bad.

Btw - since you're so big on 'facts' - can you provide some 'facts' as to why 'all of my examples were wrong' and yours are all so obviously right?

As I stated in a previous post (#73), I admit that I don't have any 'facts', hence the debate. (Maybe you need to research the word 'debate').

Hmm. I'm not so sure about that Reaper. To me, a religious person is someone who practices the beliefs of their faith / religion / values etc.

The fact that there are so many apparently religious folks who play Quake 2 speaks volumes - maybe because their religious beliefs do in fact preach violence and death to those who dare to oppose them...

"Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked.  Show no mercy; have no pity!  Kill them all – old and young, girls and women and little children.  But do not touch anyone with the mark.  Begin your task right here at the Temple."  So they began by killing the seventy leaders.  "Defile the Temple!" the LORD commanded.  "Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill!  Go!"  So they went throughout the city and did as they were told."  (Ezekiel 9:5-7 NLT)

And at midnight the LORD killed all the firstborn sons in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn son of the captive in the dungeon. Even the firstborn of their livestock were killed.  Pharaoh and his officials and all the people of Egypt woke up during the night, and loud wailing was heard throughout the land of Egypt. There was not a single house where someone had not died.  (Exodus 12:29-30 NLT)

If even then you remain hostile toward me and refuse to obey, I will inflict you with seven more disasters for your sins.  I will release wild animals that will kill your children and destroy your cattle, so your numbers will dwindle and your roads will be deserted.  (Leviticus 26:21-22 NLT)

Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword.  Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes.  Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes.  For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off.  The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows.  They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children.  (Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT)

What are they doing on the forum of a computer game that promotes violence and death?

I doubt this even crosses the minds of the players I play.  It's just not about that..

I'll speak for myself, that I enjoy the fun that this game brings, and all the characters.  Mainly I choose to play this game because I can constantly improve in different areas of the game.  For the most part I have just as much fun losing as winning, as I like the critical moment of retaking control, or trying to play without control well.  I never think of quake 2 as a violent game, more just a strategy game with friends.  I believe this applies to almost everyone who plays team death match, and I'd guess every other mod as well.  So tell me where the violence promotion and death comes in, as the game we play does not revolve around that in the slightest.

Well, I guess the violence and death comes in when you try to frag anything that's moving and you do your best to splatter their guts all around the place.

Other than that, I agree. Quake 2 is a joyous celebration of love and friendship.

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
