copy and rename?

how? i have never done it before

just using a pak editor program like pakscape, copying textures and renaming them as other textures... the hardest part probably would be finding the best place to use the textures on ALL the maps... and it would really only be practical for a handfull of maps such as how a high res pak only covers dm1-8 and usually the most popular duel maps....

only maps with egyptian themes that i can think of are dm1 and match1, but if you look around with the help of google you might find a couple more because quake1 had quite a few egyptian themed maps and im sure some people have missed that enough to make an egyptian texture pak for a random map here or there :)

if you copy and rename them to replace all the original textures and make a pak with it, it will work.
but i think its alot of work! :(

it would be a lot of work... but to have an egyptian texture pak that would cover at least dm1-8 and some other very popular maps would be pretty awesome

it's been a while back, but I think X7 may have made a dm8 conversion with egyptian textures..
it would be a decent place to start at least.

there's also a map that maric made on mutant that has a ton of good egyptian themed tex

All told, it will take time as you'll have to rename the textures manually and find places for them to fit that look good.
That's how Realistic made that dm1 pak in the first place.

It took a bit of work using wally, pakscape and QuArK and at least a week or so of effort.
It went considerably faster after I showed him how to use quark to see the textures on the map in place, and how they're aligned so he could easily test and choose new textures for his replacement set.

bah i download pakscape and have no idea what i am doing. i am just gonna leave it. i will just use stock textures for now. i could go through other paks but its kind of a lucky dip. most don't have screenshts so u download 100MB for nothing sometimes cause it turns out u don't like the pak
