ok?? Well i've never lost by much, ever, on the dm server. I join just for fun, but even with that attitude a 2nd or 3rd place with 25 frags is the very worst I get. I have won most of the dm games I've played..... and i'm not a top tier player.

I thought it would be kind of interesting to pool a variety of players, mostly the better ones, on the dm server. of course, KDR doesn't mean the people who are most likely to win, although undoubtedly the 2 lists would be similar. What kdr does measure on the dm server, with enough good data(not saying this data is perfect), are the people who are most likely to kill you if you meet up with them / battle. People will do better and worse some months, but most of them did seem to be about where I thought that they would be.

railz =/= dm lol if you are talking railz... i see tdm players lose on railz all the time... although it takes one of the better active railers to do it, they wont go losing to just any railer cause honestly a ton of noobs play on the railz server, but the players that usually also frequent irtdm can beat most tdm players no problem

but losing to a player who is good at the mod is not the same as losing to a noob who spawn camps

if you want to talk dm... there is no problem with a tdm player losing to some one like defiant who is just a pretty solid ffa player... however if they lose to some random little fuck who does nothing but spawn camp, thats pretty weak :/

spawn camping may get much lesser skilled players a lot more frags than they should... but it doesnt mean they are a better player than the players they score higher than... spawn camping cant even be fun at all :/ you just crouch there and pull the trigger when some one spawns...

ffa also is far different from somethin more structured like tdm, in tdm if some one is camping you can easily flush them out and make them pay for a stupid choice, but it something like railz you just cant do that because everyone is fighting everyone, the lethality of the fights is much higher, and going across the map to specifically target one person just wastes time and will probably just result in unreturned damage... i do target people who play like idiots whenever im on the railz server, i will hunt down and specifically target spawn campers and nade spamming noobs, but it has cost me a win a few times just to put down some retards...

the bold part you agree with me. Then you state your opinions on people who spawn camp, which is irrelevant to the point I'm making. Spawn camping is totally legit. As I said... being successful with the least amount of work possible is the essence of competitive play. The spawn camper in question may also be a newb, but in no way does the tactic of spawn camping generalize someone as a no-skill newb.

Just because a certain style of play is not fun for you doesn't mean others don't enjoy it.  I work with a guy who used to play here, some of you might remember him (Dr. Bellows), he did not care about winning.  What he really enjoyed was killing someone in the most screwed up way and watching people get pissed about it.  Do you think the herding cows care about winning, for them its all about the camp and controlling an area.  For some players its about "in-game" trolling

I just played a round on DM with Dafremen and 3 others, and I'm starting to think the guy has a point.
That faggy "priorie" and one of the regs who goes by "thelastspaceorb" spent 12 minutes on dm6 doing nothing but camping on the RA with a BFG, trying to camp the rl cave and getting raped by me and Daf, and spamming rockets down from the cg area while hiding.

It was fucking stupid and boring, and the ONLY fun I had was when Daf and I would run into each other and have a fight that would pretty much empty us of ammo before one of us died and the other went back to camper hunting.

Winning wasn't even enjoyable when I didn't have to do much other than crush relatively unmoving players faster than my competition.

I'm not saying that I enjoy that style of play.  I'm just saying that making a blanket claim (like Vae made) that no one can enjoy playing like that is incorrect.  I think most everyone plays for fun, so if people are playing like that they must enjoy it.

lmfao. good one cow but seriously that priorie pisses me off. i was playing him 1 on 1 on dm when no one else was in, he didn't get 1 kill on me and he ended up leaving the game when i got to 15-0. he is shit when he is not camping. just proves my point that most campers have no skill at all and can't play for shit
