The psu I bought back in 09 only has a 4pin 12v rail, and apparently the mobo needs all 8. Which seems odd, since it had a plastic cover over the additional 4 pins. Oh well. Another 100 bucks, another day, and I'll have a proper power supply.

should be able to run it with just the p4 connector, if your computer does a random reset during huge stressful loads though then your processor is pulling too much power and then you will require the 8pin
