Teamcamping on Vanilla and DM

Why is this allowed?

6 players in and 3 are teamcamping. 
It has been going on on Vanilla for years, but why isn't it forbidden on DM?

Personally, I would be satisfied if these players were perm muted.

As far as I know, they have the right to teamcamp like assholes just as much as you have the right to bitch about it. A more productive approach would be to change your player model and skin to whatever they are using, nose up next to them, then blast them to hell. They'll probably change their skins a few times to uniquely identify each other again, be aware of that. They may even change to DIFFERENT skins and just identify one another that way. In those cases, you must charge the person using the same skin as you and hope their buddy is confused enough to not know who to aim at first. Eventually THEY'LL be the one's getting pissed at you for foiling their plans to be douchey.

Well a lot of times I don't think they're really all that concerned about winning the map. They're more concerned with successfully controlling an area, fragging anyone who attempts to encroach their area, and thusly pissing them off. A lot of the time, pissing people off is the primary objective. It's kinda funny to see the occasional person get pissed at them. It's even funnier when you can fuck with THEM and piss THEM off.

Cow camping is a rite of passage on Vanilla. None of the cows care about winning the map - in fact it's a disadvantage because you could be getting frags from your team mates.  It's more like they're saying - we're going to camp the Rocket Launcher (say on DM5) and we throw down the gauntlet. We challenge you to dislodge us. Same with Cool1, Bunk1 and others. It's really evolved to put a different spin on the game instead of just a run up to 30. I think it's a hoot to see 3 or 4 cows with destructive weapons, coupled with those dumb cow faces, just blasting people to bits who dare venture into their hood. And I'm sure the others get a real satisfaction of taking out 2 or 3 cows in a well planned attack. I think it's all good fun.

the mod is what we call "FREE FOR ALL" not "ALL GOOD FUN"

they might not all get the fraglimit but they are shortchanging anyone else on the server out of the chance to have a fight 1 on 1 with an opponent while having to worry about others shooting both of them. (the gist of all FFA play)

the cows all hanging out in the same area dont have to worry about being shot by 3 other people while they fight with one guy who's approaching. Their buddies behind them won't shoot them so they can just zerg rush at others 2 or 3 at a time and get easy kills.

it's effectively cheating, it takes LESS skill than killing someone on your own, and teaming by the use of a skin that's hard as fuck to see is yet another way for them to get a little advantage and then act like they rule the server, when individually they'd get handled by most players.

people who think it doesn't hurt anyone are oblivious. A lot of players who are actually decent have stopped caring to play on the DM and vanilla servers because of the rampant pansy ass camping and teaming in ffa that screws them out of skillful play and wins they'd normally have in the bag.
on top of this, it encourages everyone into completely boring and repetitive movements around the maps and bfg spamming to clear out the teams of cows.

If good players even show up they don't take it seriously at all and they don't bother trying to play to the extent of their abilities because it won't matter in the face of 3-4 teaming players all shooting them simultaneously and covering each other's backs. It's gone from skillful run and gun play to a matter of rushing in and laying down some BFG or quad chain over and over.
 
All told the fuckers who do this garbage are lowering the bar on the FFA servers to previously unseen levels of shittyness and wasting everyone's time.


I think it's a hoot when I see someone's individual skill at playing quake 2 actually rewarded with a win, instead of watching people cheating at a mod that's loaded up with most of the newbie players and being patted on the back for it.

If I had my way I'd force AC on every one of them and ban any of the CRU players from any server other than the tourney ones so we can see how they fare playing against players who are teaming and actually have individual skills worth a shit. I'd put money on them never getting a single fucking frag without the advantage of teaming vs single players.

You moderate this forum, but I don't think you speak for the admin(s).

I infer, that because the admins don't respond, that they condone the team-camping behaviour.
I completely agree with Whirlingdervish... it is like the local basketball court analogy:  if some players are dicks and enjoy elbowing players instead of just playing the game, then soon all you have are dicks that play at that court.  A better player can outplay a single camper, but team-camping is ridiculous.

To be honest, I would assume that the admins didn't respond because they don't have a single reasonable argument why team-camping is allowed.
With that said, I do appreciate TS and its servers.... obviously it is yours and you can run them how you desire.

I only moderate a few sections on the forum, I don't think that has much to do with this here... And as far as my views representing how other tastyspleen admins feel about the issue? Definitely not. You will only see me give my admin-ly opinion on the servers I actually have admin/referee access to, the jump and tourney servers.

And yes I can see your point. I was just cracking a joke because whenever people do that type of stuff and cross my path it usually means free frags for me
