Figured out what the pawn shops are. They are "Title Loans" So it's basically high interest credit made against your vehicle.

Still shady. There are almost as many pawn shops here as churches, and you know there's a lot of churches round here.

Some states are outlawing those title loan things.  I feel if you REALLY want to keep paying satellite/cable bills & only name brand bread when you can't afford it's not stealing, it's natural selection working things out.

You might want to consider hitting up the Oktoberfest up in Helen. It should be going on all month long. I think it's free admission on Sundays, 7 bucks a person monday through saturday. A few friends and I might be up there tomorrow night at either the Troll Tavern under the bridge or the International Deli across the river from the tavern. MIGHT, I dunno, the traffic gets pretty horrendous through Helen during Oktoberfest. A bazillion people come and it's just a mere two lane road through the town. Could be backed up for miles and miles. First weekend or two in October is usually the worst as far as crowds go, that's usually when they do the keg tapping ceremony and all that bullshit. Can't even find a camping spot up in the WMA area unless you get there early, and rooms at any hotels or bed & breakfast places are expensive as fuck that month.

Wanted to share my experience at the tag office (DMV?)

The whole trip took 30 minutes, including walking a block and a half away to park. They changed over my plate, registration and title without having to ask and fill out 3 separate forms. After the process was done, I had a 3 to 6 second waiting period for my new plate.

It depends on where you go, but wait times for all things DMV have improved somewhat in most places over the past 10 years. Years and years ago when I wanted to get my actual licence, I had to go to the DMV/Georgia State Patrol headquarters in Conyers. I got there about an hour or two before they opened early in the morning to get a spot in a line, and there was already a MASSIVE line formed. By lunch, I think I finally took the tests on the computers. Then I waited the rest of the day until closing time. I was the next person to take the driving test before they closed. I had to come back the following day to wait to take it again. Luckily they told me to come back early and they'd make sure I was able to be the first one in line for the road test.

The first time I had my licence renewed, it took probably 5 hours.

Back in 03 or 04, I had to have my licence reinstated from a suspension, and it only took about an hour and a half.

If you go to a DMVS outside the metro Atlanta area, you usually wait less.
