WOW.. what a trip with all the icons!Ok guys/gals.. back from ten years of smoking crack. Luckily I didn't die! I'm looking to retrain my hands away from the keyboarding I used to do and want to use the mouse for aiming and shooting.PROBLEM:My Quake2 won't recognize wheelup/wheeldown for lookup/lookdown which I want to try out.Hawkins is my brother and I need to be on my toes if I'm ever going to get competitive w/him again. Can someone plz help a healing burnout come back to the fold with new tricks up his sleeve? Thanks,TheBeastWithin
I didn't know about "Mouselook"... I'm assuming it's somewhere in the options menu, so I'll try it out.
once you get used to a config that you like, you can work on gameplay mechanics like aim, map knowledge, sound cues, prediction, weapon choice...
Aiming with ANY keys is totally retarded. Use the mouselook. Bottom line is that you can move a mouse and acquire a target much faster than you can with pressing any key. Actually using keys for movement AND moving the mouse for aiming at the same time is often necessary. Proper movement is actually a vital part of aiming, especially with weapons like the railgun.Maybe you're one of those people that's still used to playing games like Doom 1 and Duke Nukem where a lot of people didn't even use the mouse. I suppose you COULD use only keys for aiming, but don't expect to hit much. Better than 98% of the players around here use mouse aiming, and they'll be able to get you first every time.

You really do not have to even begin to care about that stuff unless you want to. FFA is 70% aiming and 30% movement. Everything else is trivial.
