Can't get into tastyspleen dm

Hi,

I have recently been unable to access the tasty DM server:

The console message says: 'This server requires the r1ch.net anticheat module...'

I have tried downloading the anticheat file, as advised, however my antivirus software indicates that the anticheat download is a 'trojan', and automatically deletes it.

Any advice around this would be appreciated.

PS: I recently obtained a broadband connection which has improved my connection speed / ping considerably - might this register on the server as a possible 'cheat'?

Well thanks for those posts, but could you explain in plain english what I need to do to get back into DM?

Some Q2 players have suggested temporarially turning off my antivirus program in order to download the Q2 anticheat, but I feel uncomfortable about doing this.

It does that for everyone, Chris. It's on anticheat's website with the link he posted, I assume.

You shouldn't need AC to connect to the dm server, though. People have AC forced on them for a reason, so it's likely you have a very similar IP or subnet to someone who has it forced on them... If I had to guess. Console will respond with his flaming sword of justice, just be patient

Your current IP falls into a forced-AC subnet (frkq2 user in new zealand.)

The standard remedy is to configure your AntiVirus software to ignore anticheat.dll.

Go to the On Access Scan control panel and under "heuistics" turn off "find unknown unwanted programs and trojans". Then download anticheat.dll from antiche.at and put it in your Quake II directory. Go back to the On Access Scan control panel and under "Exceptions" add one called "C:\(insert path to anticheat)\anticheat.dll" and ignore the "read" action. Delete the downloaded zips (they will get picked up as false positives) and re-enable "find unknown unwanted programs and trojans".

Hmm.  So anticheat.dll is in the same folder as your r1q2.exe ?

What OS are you using?

You did specify anticheat.dll or something? try doing a drag and drop.

I'm using Windows XP.

My antivirus just shredded anticheat.dll again anyway, even though I made an exception.... I give up.

Never mind. Maybe it's a sign that I need to get out more.
