Can't load mods offline

I can't seem to load mods offline. Whenever I use the game "" cvar and load a specific mod map, the game always loads up as singleplayer. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here or missing.

You also have to do +set deathmatch 1. I find it best to use a shortcut to a batch file. The shortcut starts the batch file and the batch file contains this:

cd \quake2
start r1q2 +set dedicated 1 +set port 27910 +set game gamemod +set deathmatch 1 +set maplist 1 +exec server.cfg

The very last line of the server.cfg should contain the map command to start the first map.

Some mods don't support the maplist command.

I made a .bat that contains that information you've mentioned. When I run the batch file, it doesn't load the map automatically, or when I try to load the map via map "" cvar. All I get is this:

This console is normal. This is the dedicated server console. To exit the server, type quit into it.

The exec line is complaining that you don't have a server.cfg file, this file would be where you put other cvars for configuring the mod and other things like maxclients and cvars for configuring r1q2 that you don't want to put in the command line.

The InitGame tells you the server correctly loaded the mod DLL and the server is running, the map command worked.

This is a dedicated server mode, there is no HUD. Now you open up your quake2 player program (probably r1q2) and connect to the server. In this case your server is localhost or 127.0.0.1:27910.
