Valve game Portal is free til the 24th

Sorry if there was already a thread about this somewhere else.

For those that don't already know, the Valve (Half-Life, etc.) game "Portal" is free if you add/download it to your Steam account by the 24th.  If you don't already have it, go get it!

I knew about this a day and a half ago but the steam servers keep getting slammed and go down at night. So I wanted to wait until I finished my download before passing the info on

most people that paid for it just got it with the orange box, and half life 2 + ep1 and ep2 are the reason i got that, those games ARE worth the cost portal is just one of those kewl side games that should come in bundles

awesome tip that its free though maybe i should make a few steam accounts and get it just so i can give them to friends later

I don't think it was ever a full-price game... Maybe around $20 initially, sometimes discounted to $10.

valve's always sold it for ~$20 but retail stores had it for between $10-$5 after release.

For free I'll give it a shot.

I read valve changed the ending to fit portal 2's story.  Has anyone confirmed it?

Prey is a much better game. It's incredibly underrated. I mean everyone who plays it loves it, but not enough people have played it.

Portal is still cool, but it's just a 3d representation of a 2d puzzle game. In fact the flash version of portal is the exact same thing. The only difference is that 3d portal has more bonuses and extras. The 3rd dimension doesn't add too much to the gameplay, in fact it seems to cause many obstacles that would be more feasible in a 2d puzzle game to become overcomplicated and contrived. That's my take on it at least.
