some people from tastycast play doom2, like venova (lol) and jehar absolutely loves doom2, no clue if he still plays it though...

zdaemon stuff is what they use to play, cause they all saw the zddl and fell in love with it ive touched doom2 twice i think, not my cup of tea, but still really kewl

Come idle in #tastycast on irc.globalgamers.net. The channel is always active and there are people there, like myself, who play anything and everything and will play those games with you :p

Doom2 is my preferred cool-down game to this day, and there's no shortage of new material coming out on a weekly basis on /idgames (hosted these days on http://doomworld.com). I used to be part of the Skulltag dev team, but I do appreciate Zdaemon for it's more nilla motif (even though they adopted an ass-ugly CS-style font a few years back). Either way, Doom is as alive as Q2, if not more.

doom 2's sp maps made the most fun mp matches I've ever had.  d2m27 (monster condo) is my second favorite mp map of all time.  Right after d2m7.

A friend of mine out of nowhere sent me his set of doom levels, I never even knew that he played the game. They were pretty good!

I've done a lot of zDaemon to the point that I even ported the original Chex Quest levels into DM levels for zDaemon. They played pretty good actually.

i enjoy spectating doom more than playing it... i find the netcode annoying and have no idea how to configure it

other than that though, doom2 sp campaign is still so epic XD i should go play it again for shits and giggles... maybe jehar can point me in the way of some epic campaigns that are third party

aliens tc.  Coop if you can.  Don't enable move up/down if you're using a a new engine.  Makes the Doom 1/2 campaigns look easy. 

Final Doom - Plutiona Experiment is THE bets imho.  It takes ultra violence on Doom 2, turns it in to hurt me plenty & throws lemon juice in your eyes just for fun.

That's pretty much the only thing I've been playing in Doom 2 lately. Fun times.

yea i like it on the heardest mode only. no dying. i only make exceptions if it were lava deaths or something that is way too out there. respawning monsters etc.

Some maps are ridiculously hard, so I need respawns. Also, it helps with random deaths, like at times when your teammate hits you into the lava with a rocket.

All weapons expect the pistol and shotgun are useful. Just think of the ssg as being the bread and butter weapon of the game, like how the rocket launcher is for the Quake games.
